Cessna 414AW

I remember thinking when this thing came out that I really didn't want to get into the "paid beta" thing. When AvAngel reviewed it a couple of years ago, it was at v1.0.0, and even then, she gave it a good review. Jonathan Beckett liked it too.

I've had the C310R from Milviz/Blackbird for a while, but when fully loaded, it's a dog - as in obese Bassett. So after playing around and realizing I needed to update my GTN750, I was looking around on the PMS50 site and saw the list of compatible planes. I looked up the 414 and decided to pick it up - it darn-well oughta be out of beta by now... Functionally, she's much like the 310 as far as operation, but with much better performance, even with a full load. She may not be a Greyhound, but she has the power to at least get out of her own way.

My only real gripe is that the registrations are baked into the textures, but I may take part of tomorrow to work on that since it's a holiday.

Here she is scooting out of Dominicci on one of my fav runs heading to TNCM...

Each of the 14 liveries can be flown with the stock Garmin 530, the free 750, or the paid 750xi. Since I don't have that last one, I just made a backup copy of the aircraft.cfg and deleted the 750xi entries from the [fltsim.x] list. I have some more tweaks I want to do, but I need to go get some food...

I'm already working on modding one of the blue/white liveries. I was able to mask out the tail # by copying the same section with the same base color from another scheme, and then changed the reg. placard on the panel to my normal N721TC that I always fly with. The next step will be to get the tail number on the tail itself, but in the meantime, I also borrowed a couple of texture files from one of the interior mods to get rid of that asinine fake mirror on the rear bulkhead.

I don't know why some dev's refuse to use Asobo's dynamic registration system...

This was the first high end twin for FS2020, still a fine model. I haven't gotten any emails from the Dev lately indicating any new updates for this or the Lear 35. I reckon I need to check to see where they are version wise.

Had to get the C-414 because it was the first „big“ twin I really got to fly after the Apache.
And there is still no good Navajo for MSFS. Got a few flights in one of those as well, thinking I might still make the move to flying commercially.
The 414 is pretty darn close to how I remember the real thing to be. Though the engines in the real airplane were a lot more finicky getting started when they were in that weird temperature zone between cold and really hot.

The Chancellor is one of the few models that is fairly easy to paint without using Blender. I just did this one using one of the liveries it came with.
