Hello!

I just uploaded an new campaign I´ve made: 12 missions recreating the British defense of Colombo and China Bay on Ceylon against the Japanese air attacks in April 1942.

You will fly Hurricanes and Fulmars against the Zeroes, Kates and Vals, and also Catalinas, Albacores and Blenheims on search and strike missions against Admiral Nagumo´s aircraft carriers. Here are a few screenies:

The package also includes GSL scenery for the ports of Colombo and China Bay.

I hope Rami will approve it!

Have fun!

Much appreciated camp Skylane. I've done a number of free-flights around this area since installing the older RNAS Trincomalee Version 1 By Daniel "GZR_Crop1/Crop_335th" Mobbs from 2001. After updating and further populating the area with Xavierb's GSL Ceylon bases in '07, I've often wondered what a regional historical campaign would look like. Thanks...:icon29:

Skylane,

Now THIS is a surprise! I'll have to fire up my Pacific install to give this one a whirl when my year ends in a couple of days! :salute:

Excellent mission pack!

Thanks for all your hard work highlighting operations in a neglected part of the CFS 2 world ...

Thanks for this new campaign Skylane.

I didn´t knew there was scenery developed for this part of CFS2 world. Every day we have something new to learn!

Cheers, Discus

Hello!

Thanks for the nice comments!

Unfortunately I forgot to include something in the package: my airbases.dat file..

For those of you who already have my other campaigns this is no problem, as I uploaded this file with the other ones.

In case you don´t have it yet, here it is. Just save your current file in a safe place, and put this one into your CFS2 -> INFO folder when you fly my missions.

Rami, is there a way for you to insert the file into the uploaded package, or should I re-upload it?

Sorry for the inconvenience!!

Skylane,

A piece of cake, my friend. I just added it to the original package. :salute:

Slowly but surely

It takes me awhile to get things like I want them, so I am methodically installing Skylane's Ceylon. The scenery is first class, and my first three AC have been very nice players. But, I've hit a snag with radio chatter (voice and text). This isn't the first time I've encountered problems in this area in other installs. I've never found a solution. I fixed up a little TEST mission to check things out. The radio is on and my wingmen respond to my attack orders, so they get the message, still the chatter won't work. Interestingly, I can get the US and IJ chatter to work in these AC if I change the aircraft DP allegience to 3 or 4, but set at 1 UK, nothing but silence. I've read everything I could find at SOH about this but I'm still unable to get it to work.
I've also noticed in the CFS2\sound\radio file there are .gvi, .gvr and .gvt files for USA and JPN, but no other nationality.
Well, I was hoping someone else had already gone down this path and found the solution. So, any sound experts out there this SOUND familiar to?

Glad you were able to sort out the problem. I'll have a look at the readme of the sound package when I return home. Maybe that is not written clearly enough and I should include this info in my readme?

Skylane,

If you ever need me to modify anything, rest assured it is very easy for me to do. :jump:

Done!

Skylane,

As I mentioned above, it takes me a while to get things the way I want them. You know, trial and error. So, now I have loaded up your Ceylon 1942 package and I've flown the first mission. I ran into several hiccups along the way during the install. This is the first one of yours I've ever done and some things that caused me to hunt around, you may have covered in previous mission packs. Don't know if you want me to go into it here in this thread, so maybe you'd prefer that I should PM you with my findings. Anyway, so far so good, and thanks!

Since you fly a mix of different airplane types from different airfields, I thought a cmg file doesn´t make muche sense, as it would not be very realistic.
But if you´d like to have one, I can do it. However, it will take a few days until I have time.

:icon29:..yeahhh...pretty! Several planes+airfields are used in other campaigns also. If there are more than 5 or 6 missions,
campaign-files are nessesary---I think:salute:

Let's keep CFS2 alive !!

A little late, but here it is: The campaign file for the Ceylon missions, as well as an update to the missions and the readme.

I completely missed, that Uncle Tgt made a 30 Sqn RAF skin for the Hurricane that I used in this campaign! Now I found it, and put the link to it into the readme.

Also, I now use the overhauled stock D3A instead of Akemi´s, in order to make use of the skins Uncle Tgt made for this airplane. In the first mission, there was a destroyer that wasn´t mentioned in the downloads list. I now changed that for the GC jervis that is also used in the other missions.
I have added a note to the readme, warning that the missions are hand-edited, and therefore won´t work properly anymore once opened with Mission Builder.

If you alrady have the campaign installed and want to use the update, just unzip the attachment and drop the Missions and Campaigns folders into your CFS2 install, overwriting existing files when asked to.
You need to have the stock overhauled D3A installed, a link to it, as well as tro the skins for the Val and Hurricane is in the updated readme, also in the attachement.

Rami: Could you please insert the files in the attached zip into the campaign in the archive, and remove the old readme and Missions folder? Thanks!

Have Fun!
