Hello to all!
Death is a subject that CFS1 simmers, like most others, are confronted to almost every game. We simply "re spawn" and go for another round.
But real death, as far as I know, does not work that way. Eventually, we will all have to face it personally but, in the meantime, it will come to us by "proxy". I was myself left to cope with the grief of loosing two "virtual buddies" recently at Joint-Ops. We now only have memories of them but, as long as those memories survive, a bit of their presence will be felt by the whole CFS1 community.
This is why I "committed" a Virtual Memorial Monument. It is an apparently very simple virtual object but its centerpiece, a rotating terrestrial globe, is the most complicated piece of work that I ever created. It is meant to represent the worldwide community of CFS1; Designers, Fliers, Contributors of all sorts to the game shall have a place on that Memorial... once dead of course!
Four plates on the small obelisk supporting the globe bare these words;
ENGLISH-
"The world will never forget them, for they will fly forever in our minds and in our hearts"

German version is from Wolfgang Grünewald, a well-known scenery designer, and Spanish translation from AAC_Baseketboll, an AAC member and an accomplished bomber-flyer. I wish to publicly thank them both for their contributions.
SOH has granted me the permission to make this thread a "sticky" so that you can post your suggestions here for;
- NEW NAMES -
If you know of someone deceased that should be remembered on this Monument, leave a post here with, preferably, his virtual "handle" (real names only when the deceased was publicly known this way), his real name (when known), his birth and death's years and a few lines to describe his contribution to the CFS1 community. ONLY people associated to CFS1 will be considered. They could have been flying mates in your squad or on the "Zone", addons designers, CFS1 WEB sites founders or contributors to CFS1 community.
Let me use the two first inscriptions on this monument as examples;
Krazy Kat, (Pete Schick), 1936 - 2006, long-time Joint-Ops and OB virtual flyer. Well loved by his family and his peers. Retired military, he brought to the game he so feverishly liked his sense of organization and his sense of humor.
Pine, (Chris Cromie), 1958 - 2007, co-founder of Joint-Ops and OB Distinguished Order, he was an accomplished virtual flyer, bomber specialist, and a first grade teacher renowned for his calm voice and his proverbial patience with a long list of students at JO.
- NEW PLACES -
The Memorial was integrated to AAC_Ripe and a BGL "stand-alone" near SWNBFTF (Silver Wing Navigators Bomber\Fighter Training Facility) memorial will be uploaded to "scenery Add-ons" section. But it can be added to any other places in CFS1 world. Simply give me the coordinates
(example: AAC_Ripe Monument is at N50°51.23' E0°9.66')
and a copy of the scenery you would like it to be integrated in. I reserved the right to decline demands.
New Monuments will come in scenery folders with MEMORIALXX names and two sub-folders (scenery and texture) and can be installed like any other "normal" scenery or, if you want, the Monument could be "integrated" to your scenery folder. I will give preference to squad bases.
- NEW LANGUAGES -
I have already put plates in English, French, German and Spanish but I realize that you may have other language in mind. Feel free to communicate with me through PM or e-mail and I will try to satisfy your needs.
I make here the solemn promise that I will take care of this Memorial Monument for as long as I physically can in the hope that younger CFS1 members will replace me and add, when time comes, my own name to it.
Regards,
