Its 13-ft-wingspan made the Pensuti-Caproni triplane most probably the world´s smallest wartime man-carrying aircraft. It was designed in 1914 by Emilio Pensuti, Caproni´s chief test-pilot, "to do in the air what bicycle does for the man on the road". With a total weight of only 507 lb, pilot included,its 35 hp 3-cyl inverted "Y" Anzani engine, gave it a top speed of 60 mph (52 kt) and a take-off run of only 65...
