CFS2 and ObjectsDB

I have been busy creating separate CFS2 theaters, and with my MTO theater I have ran in to a familiar issue. Too many ObjectsDB. I found that I could get away with around 2330 before CFS2 just completely locks up on me. But I've found an interesting thing.

With my MTO (and ETO) installs the largest number of objects have been dedicated to the mega railway pack that Rami used for major areas around Amsterdam, and in my case for MTO, Rome. Without these objects installed, CFS2 just gives me a cascade of error issues. But I removed the railway DB files from the ObjectDB files to see if it would help with CFS2 locking up on me. What I found was not only did this solve the issue of CFS2 not locking up on me for exceeding a ton of objectDB files, but when I launched around Rome, I didn't see the cascade of missing object alerts.

Now I haven't looked to closely to see if CFS2 is rendering these railways, but Rome didn't look too none worse of the wear for missing them. I also think CFS2 didn't throw a fit over missing them because the railways objects are still in the SceneDB INF folder.

Does anyone else have any further insight in to what is going on? Now I'm going to get back to adding in some P-40s. Then it's on to 110s, 109s and Ju-88s.

Best as I understand the errors with max aircraft, ships and objects_dp are memory based and that is why there are no hard numbers.

If the sim doesn't see an object DP, it doesn't load it. So, in effect, the Objects_DP folder is the "index" being used. No need to worry about clearing the SCENEDB/inf folders...

I think you'll find those railway objects aren't being rendered at all.

As Allen says, it's largely hardware dependent - 2300 is an impressive total, my system starts choking at around 1800... (y)

I have the same problem, especially in the MTO with the railroad objects.
I´ll have to try and see how Rome looks with these removed. Meanwhile, what I did was remove the stock weapons and CFS1 objects, as these are not really needed and take up some valuable space in the Objects folder.

Thank you Allen and Uncle!

Now am I correct that DPs that have a .CDP files have been used by CFS2, where others that lack that file have not?

I’m now eyeing a solution to trim things down further.

@skylane. I kept the rail yards and the rail buildings, but removed the DPs for the tracks.
