CFS2 damage boxes

Members +
I just started playing with CFS2 again. I downloaded some of the newer aircraft and found that some of the damage boxes on these aircraft are off. One of the aircraft is a FW190 and I think the designer used the dimensions in metric system and the damage boxes are 1/3 in size.

I used to use DPEDIT to check the dimensions of these damage boxes, but it does not worked on the newer aircraft. I discovered that I could check the damage boxes by using exhaust lights from the Aero Heaven BF-109E.

Attached is a set of lights that can used to check the damage boxes on the stock A6M2 aircraft for study purpose. After I have adjusted the locations of these lights, I used DPEDIT to reconstruct the damage boxes. You can use this method to create the damage boxes on the aircraft that can not be opened by DPEDIT. I think DPEDIT is the best tool to create damage boxes.

Please ignore this post if you have seen this method discussed recently, I have been away from CFS2 for almost 5 years.

DPED is till the way to make DPs. Hit boxes are in meters The prob is DP are recycled from other aircraft and boxes do not match the model. The EXTRA.# is the quickest way to do things unless you have ModelConverterX and gMax installed to you can take measurements in gMax but some models can't be ported into gMax.

What about using Aircraft Container Manager for DP files?

Can you even get a hold of it? I looked into once and was unable to get it. Think something about a old installer that doesn't work on Win7+

If you have the FSDS source files, or can create one with MCX, etc. You can export a temporary FSDS1 format model that will show up in dped.
