CFS2 DC-3 Question

Guys --

Since most CFS2 a/c will work for FS2002, is there a way to get the CFS2 DC-3 conversion to work in that sim? I downloaded it there to try it. Everything shows up: the textures look great, etc., but the throttles won't work.

What gives? :faint:

Is there some editing I can do in the cfg. file to make it work?

Burcham, you need to understand how FS to CFS2 conversions work. When an original FS model is finished it has VC animation keyframes and tags specific to its native sim within the mdl file. As that file is converted to CFS2 all VC cockpit keyframes, tags and such are either disabled or deleted by the conversion software because its not designed to convert them to CFS2 parameters. This is why VC cockpit animations are frozen in CFS2 conversions. However, there are some measures a knowledgeable user can deploy in scasm to offset these problems, but its a lot of work.

Now, using the same conversion software, if one were to get the original FS2004 model and convert it to FS2002, those same original animations may possibly remain intact because FS2002 and 2004 share many of the same animation parameters and tags. Short of that, there's nothing you can do for this without knowing the conversion game indepth.

Based on somthing you said, I substituted an FS2002 panel and got the thing to move. However, it would not fly in anything resembling a controllable manner until I also substituted another air file. Fortunately, Visser has a file on flightsim.com that has about a dozen air files in it.

Now, it appears that I need to tweak a couple of things so the a/c doesn't want to cruise at over 200 kts.with the nose down about 8 degrees. DC-3s shouldn't really climb out at 170 kts. and still want to accelerate, should they? :kilroy:

I'll let you know...
