CFS2 Helo in FS9 Issue

Mick

SOH-CM-2025
The other day I rediscovered Baldy's CFS2 Sikorsky HO3S-1 on floats. I gave it an FS9 flight model, panel and sounds, upgraded the skin for FS9, painted a couple new skins, and got ready to start it up and take some screen shots.

It started right up with engine sounds, smoke and a spinning main rotor, but the tail rotor didn't move. I can't get it to spin.

Does anyone know a way to rotate the tail rotor?

It's probably something inherent about a CFS-2 model in FS9, but I pose the question in the hope that someone can surprise me with an answer.

I have a dim recollection that this question, or a similar one, was posed some years ago about one or another CFS-2 helo, but my memory may be playing tricks on me.

Hi Mick,
It will be the airfile and /or the ac.cfg file, very likely the airfile. To test, swap a working Fs9 helo airfile. If that doesn't work swap the ac.cfg file as well. Once working you can then twaek the files to fit the helo.

Cheers

Thanks Mark, but I already tried that. I started by using the aircraft.cfg and air files from Obio's update of Greg Pepper's HO3S on wheels. The tail rotor of that model spins as it should. When I saw that the tail rotor of Baldy's model wouldn't turn, the first thing I did was try it with its original cfg and air files to see if it worked properly that way, and the rotor still didn't turn. I presume it turns in CFS2, but I don't have that sim, so I can't check to be sure.

I even wondered if the tail rotor might have been set up as a second engine, but no, the original cfg file just has the one engine.

The more I think of it, the more it seems like it's just an example of how models made for one sim might not work exactly right in a different sim. But for the moment I'll hold out hope that there might be a fix.

If I knew how to make models I'd just put floats on the Greg Pepper model. Then I'd do the same thing with the AlphaSims S-55/H-19. But I don't, so I can't, so I hope someone can figure this out. If not, I guess I could fly oit with the tail rotor not turning. If I avoid Spot view I guess I wouldn't notice...
