CFS2 to FSX Conversion Assistance Request

Bookman1960

SOH-CM-2023
I've successfully converted many CFS2 aircraft into FSX and after some editing and tinkering, I've found that many -- MANY of the models look and fly beautifully in FSX! But...

I have also found that a number of the models are missing their pilots/crew. After doing some more digging and tinkering, it looks like the pilots in CFS2 are made separately so that they can bail and/or die. I've located the models in "\Models\US_Pilot and \JA_Pilot".

Alas, the models are in MDL2 format and cannot be converted (at least with the tools I've been using), and it appears that they will not display in FSX (even after I copied the folder over the FSX). Has anyone figured out how to 'populate' the planes in FSX?

I'd appreciate any helpful suggestions.

Thank you

Bookman

You can edit the MDL2 file with a hex editor to make it readable for MCX. I did that quite a few times, but that's long ago. I see what I can dig up!

Cheers,
Mark

R-W-66, that would be marvellous!! I always thought it couldn't be done for the pilot was in the dp.

Regards, hertzie

FS9/FSX does not support separate models for pilots or passengers. They have to be built into the aircraft's .mdl file.
