The CFS3 PTO Rising Sun Beta 1.0 Hotfix Mini-Update has been released and is now available at Aussiex.

This is a simple add-on package for CFS3 PTO Rising Sun, and is much easier to install than the base PTO RS installation.

Juat follow the installation instructions.



"CFS3 PTO RISING SUN BETA 1.0 HOTFIX MINI-UPDATE:

This new CFS3 PTO Rising Rising Sun Beta 1.0 Hotfix Mini-Update includes the following:

1. New, improved engine sounds for many of the aircraft already in PTO RS.

2. Several new stand-alone aircraft with new skins.

3. Many newly-modified US aircraft ordnance models.

4. A number of new missions covering the Pearl Harbor Attack and Battle of Midway Theaters.

5. Some new buildings and facilities.



CFS3 PTO RISING SUN BETA 1.0 HOTFIX MINI-UPDATE Installation Instructions:

IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to place your CFS3 PTO Rising Sun install in Theater 2, Pearl Harbor Attack and select A., USAAF VERSUS IJN SPAWN MODE on the RS Spawn Selector before installing this package or ANYTHING into CFS3 PTO Rising Sun.

The CFS3 PTO Rising Sun Beta Hotfix Mini-Update 1.01 includes many files that were previously released with CFS3 CFS3 PTO Rising Sun Beta 1.0. All of these files retain their original names, but otherwise have been greatly modified to improve this sim. They are intended to overwrite the existing files.

The CFS3 PTO Rising Sun Beta Hotfix Mini-Update 1.01 Install Pack will remove some obsolete files and add new and/or modified files to your CFS3 PTO Rising Sun install. You still need CFS3 PTO Rising Sun Beta 1.0 installed prior to installation of this Hotfix/Update.

Here is a brief overview of the installation process. Step-by-step instructions can be found in the following section.

The installer will install updated files to your CFS3 ETO Expansion install.

Installing the CFS3 PTO Rising Sun Beta Hotfix Mini-Update 1.01.exe.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to place your CFS3 PTO Rising Sun install in Theater 2, Pearl Harbor Attack and select A., USAAF VERSUS IJN SPAWN MODE on the RS Spawn Selector before installing this package or ANYTHING into CFS3 PTO Rising Sun.


1. Start CFS3 PTO Rising Sun I Theater 2, Pearl Harbor Attack and then exit. Set the RS Spawn Selector to A, USAAF VERSUS IJN SPAWN MODE before installing this package.

2. Run the CFS3 PTO RISING SUN BETA 1.0 HOTFIX MINI-UPDATE FILE REMOVER.exe. This will remove obsolete files and folders from your CFS3 PTO Rising Sun main game folder.

Note: If the location of your CFS3 PTO Rising Sun folder is NOT in the default location of C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games, simply click on the CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.40 Obsolete File Remover.exe and follow the installation procedure. Change the default path in the CFS3 PTO RISING SUN BETA 1.0 HOTFIX MINI-UPDATE FILE REMOVER.exe to match the path of your install. It may take a few minutes for the program to run.

NOTE: Do NOT run the CFS3 PTO RISING SUN BETA 1.0 HOTFIX MINI-UPDATE FILE REMOVER.exe AFTER installation of CFS3 PTO Rising Sun Beta Hotfix Mini-Update 1.01.exe. You may remove necessary files if you do.

3. Run the CFS3 PTO Rising Sun Beta Hotfix Mini-Update 1.01.exe. The default path for the install is:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 PRO Rising Sun

Change the install path if your Microsoft Games folder is at a different location, by clicking the button to the right of the install path text.

You will see the default path C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 PTO Rising Sun, browse to change the path to match your computer, and then click OK, Next, and Start.

The installer will place the updated files into your install.


4. Now run the RS BDP Zapper immediately after the installation of the CFS3 PTO Rising Sun Beta Hotfix Mini-Update 1.01.exe is finished.

5. You will have to manually delete the unlimitedpilots.xml from your Application Data (AppData)folder. This unlimitedpilots.xml file needs to be removed before changes in the new unlimitedpilots.xml file that has just been installed into your CFS3 PTO Rising Sun main game folder can take effect.
  1. In XP, the location is: C:\Documents and Settings\User Name (Your Name)\Application Data\Microsoft\CFS3 ETO Expansion_________ folder.
  1. In Vista and Windows 7, the location is probably: C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\CFS3 ETO Expansion_________ (Where XXX = your user name)
NOTE: If you have Vista or Windows 7, please follow the examples of locating your AppData folder found in the included CFS3 PTO Rising Sun Installation Guide.pdf.

At this point, you’re all done! ENJOY!"

Oh yes, the workshop still has the lights on. Spend an average of 6 to 8 hrs a day working presently on the sino japanese portion of the theater. Up at 1am to 2am work until 6am or 7am, take a power nap, do household/yardwork chores, work a little more on cfs3, another power nap, watch some movies or read, bed by 8pm. Its nice to be retired. :)


Its great when the team gets some feedback and thanks for their efforts and a response to their postings.
