CFS3 rear/mirror view

I don't know if I've invented or re-invented this but I've got a working rear / mirror view in the latest Mk1 Spitfire :)

By adding an extra eyepoint and cutting and pasting a bombadier entry into the aircrafts xdp you can now press F7 (or whatever keystoke you have assigned to the bombadier station) whilst flying and it gives you a view back over the aircraft from the mirrors position.

You still have control over the aircraft albeit reversed function, but this is a definate boon in dogfighting. Have wanted this in CFS3 for years!

Skyraider, from Dogpatch I think, has a mirror view. Very cool plane all in all - great for those times when you just want to Blow Stuff Up :)

Well ....

The Hs 129 has a mirror view, the Do 217 K2 with rear firing pilot controlled guns does (FP and mine).

And maybe now someone could release a shortcut or else to facilitate things to pc-dummies like me?:kilroy:

Thank you, Pat!!!:guinness:

Nice work Clive, even if it has been done before. I have wonderd about pilot stations for some time. I notice that some actually have two pilots bail out after being shot down, even in single seaters. This is true of the Dora, I think becasue it has a modified eyepoint station. I think each station that is added, spwans a bailout after being shot down. Not sure if ti effects performance by weight or not. Probably not as AI.

Most ingenious! :applause::applause::applause:

Edit: If you're working with the model source files, how about just making another pilot viewpoint for the mirror? Some models give you several viewpoints for cockpit, gunsight and instruments and F6 cycles between them - Mathias's Fw190 for one IIRC? No doubt some .XDP hackery would also be needed...

Yeah Clive... if there wuz just a way to 'frame' it you'll 've licked it once and for all!!:icon29:
