CFS3 Windows 10 install

Hello everyone,

I've tried everything to install my CFS3 in windows 10 but to no avail. I've tried the knowledge database instructions and still nothing.

This version of windows sucks beyond measure.

I ran the compatibility settings to no avail. Its as if the PC is not interested at all in running this great game.

I wonder if Microsoft will make a version for windows 10 because there was so much potential for this copy. Everything I had put into it is now gone.

I've seen the wonderful stories of everyone getting theirs to work so effortlessly. I guess I might as well sit on the sidelines and glimpse the flybys.

Im feeling euphoric.

Now I see the step I missed.

I'm beyond tears right now.

She's back on!

I can fly again!

Does it pertain to the CFS3 "thingy" ? Couldn't get the "thingy" to work without it disabling the 4 engine aircraft update. Still use CD because of this.

You need to find the correct version of the thingy...

I've used the thingy from Woff, it's the only way I could get it to work. Wish I could get it to shut down properly! Grrr!

I'm still using the thingy I found years ago and Control-Shift-Q shuts mine down cleanly.

Thank you for the advice hairyspin .Took a little searching but i found the correct "thingy" and all is well now. Thanks again...:jump::applause::ernaehrung004:

Now it's my turn to be stuck, I'm pretty sure I followed the movie to the T but I still can't get it started. It'll start and the splash screen will come up for a few seconds and then it'll CTD.
So, I installed CFS3 using my two CD's, then updated to 3.1, then replaced the .exe with the "thingy" (3.1 version), then it'll start and the splash screen will show for a few seconds and then crash. Any thoughts on what I'm missing?

Thanks

There is a sticky thread above on the subject: if you've followed all the steps in that you should be good to go, but if not it'd be useful to keep the problem solving to that thread. I'm afraid there are more things to do than the video above mentions.

One thing seems pretty clear; do not install in the program files but in the HD/SSD main directory. ( C: or D: whatever)
