Hi,
Working my way through whats required to install CFS3, and in the patches sticky thread, which is CLOSED so I cant askl there.
It mentions GMAX required and gives a link. Click that and Turbosquid GMAX says win2000, well I am win7. We all are well beyond win2K now.

Oh dear...

Anyone know what happens next or is that it, end of the road, no aircraft vehicle and building ability ?

I have GMax installed in my Windows7 Pro and works fine.

As a rule for old programs I try not to install them in either the Program Files or Program Files (x86). I think GMax installs in its own folder anyways

Gmax works just fine in Windows 7, that's how I use it: TurboSquid haven't updated that web page in a long while. You also have to activate Gmax and can either get an activation code from TurboSquid or use the Gmax registration workaround at FSAlpha

Once everything's up and running, visit the Design forum here at SOH for setting up Gmax for FS developing. Any other questions, yell!

Cheers, they must be losing a few clients by having gmax website so out of date.

Windows 2000/98 is the minimum spec for Gmax, not the actual requirements. And I would hate going back to 1024x768 display just to build CFS3 models.

Can't get Gmax to work: registration issues. How exactly does this workaround work? Should it be placed in a certain folder?

Do the files have to be in a specific folder? I assume you mean double left click? I get the 'Run' window but when I click 'Run' a window of text appears showing what is in the file. I start GMAX and it still asks for a registration code or exit. :dizzy:

OK, I could have sworn your post said 'install' instead of 'merge'. Anyway, I tried that too (right click, merge) and still no dice.
