Challenge Air 2011

Hi everyone;</SPAN>

I just wanted to take a second to share our families’ Saturday with you. My youngest son took his brother and myself flying. No, that is not a typo. </SPAN>

He participated this year in “Challenge Air”, a program held annually for special needs children. The volunteer pilot with Challenge Air took our plane off from Red Bird airport in Dallas, climbed to 2500 feet and pointed it south, and Benjamin flew it from there. He banked around, and showed us the sights on the ground. When it was time to turn around to go back, the pilot said "Okay Benjamin, time to go back" -- and he made a nice banked turn back to the airport. I asked the pilot if he used the rudder pedals, and he said "no, Benjamin did it by himself". Dave, our pilot, did not ask him to let go of the controls until we turned onto final approach (in case he had to make a sudden correction due to turbulence.) It was a most eye-opening experience; I could see my boys flying together across the country and have a ball, turbulence and all.</SPAN>
