Changing number on external HD

Upon attaching my Seagate external HD to my newer machine I discovered that it is now drive 'H' as opposed to the former 'G' designation. Is there a K.I.S.S. method for getting it back to it's former "g' status? Simple renaming doesn't seem to work. Otherwise I am going to have to change a crapload of shortcuts in 8 installs :icon_lol:..
 
You mean letter? I don't know if it is simple but this is how I did it on my XP. Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management than Disk Management. Once at Disk Management find your drive and right click on it. Go to "Change Drive Letter and Paths..."
