Changing runway textures

Here is something I have been wondering, but can't seem to find a answer on.
When a base is put together and you download and load it into your machine and wish to change some of the runway textures is it possible to do.?
I am wondering this as I have seen some textures on other sites (FS2002,200,FS9) that are for runways that I would like to substitute to dress up the bases that were done. Some of these include taxiway markings, etc. ( lots of eye candy!).
I would think that it would be renaming the desired texture to the same name as the one you would like to change( ie;Runway11(old) to runway11(new), but what if a additional desired feature has its' own name(taxiway) that is not in the texture folder presently? How would you make it be called by the sim to be displayed?

when you get that interested it means the time has come to learn how to use FSSC and PSP 9 or earlier, after which you create and place them as you wish

Have been playing with that, but really messed up a older base:faint: so I was wondering if it was possible to take the easy way:jump:. If not , it will be back to the drawing boards!:wavey:

i have built a lot of airbases with concrete for b29's and iron mesh for others using FSSc and PSP and its great fun when you start painting the texture files to suite your taste beneath and above the runway.for the RAF bomber bases why not just use PSP on the texture file duplicate, copy, layer, paint the runway grey, merge, dxtbmp 3 and back

Fibber,

I am afraid there is no easy way around. The kind of runway or the runway-texture is in the background poly in FSSC and alterations later on are not possible.
The only way to do some changes I can think of would be to create a runway to your liking in FSSC and put it ontop of the scenery. But that needs a lot of alingment work.

Cheers
