Chaseplane for MSFS2024: "soon"

This is going to make the "we'll never get a flyby view" crowd happy!

Never thought I'd pay for a product like this, but given how hacky the one bundled with FS2024 is, sign me up. I understand ChasePlane had a lot of fans on older sims.

Everyone seems to be asking the question - Is it 2020, 2024 or both? The comments on the //42 website don't seem to shed any light on that question at this time.

[Edit - Just saw this in my email - "ChasePlane™ by //42 for Microsoft Flight Simulator is an award-winning, fully customizable camera system for MSFS: with real physics.

With features like effortless custom view creation and sharing, complete camera control (including roll axis and zoom), FlyBy™ cam and our Cinematics™ Mode, you’ll feel like you’re directing a professional film crew.

ChasePlane also delivers additional realism with human, mounted and chase camera physics, making every shot feel alive. It’s not just a camera system, it’s a whole new perspective." Still no firm commitment about which or both!]

I'm with shotgunshack, seeing/experiencing is believing (of course what i'm looking for to see and believe most is the Fly-By camera part... ).

Certainly don't want to rain on our parade but i think i saw a comment yesterday that said " MSFS2020 only...." ( does make sense, 4 years of FS2020, about 2 months of FS2024...) hope i'm wrong..

I'm sure we need a good one touch record key to make full, frustration free use of this. If anyone can do it its // 42. Here's hoping.

In a reaction to my 'scepticism' about the promised Fly-By/Tower View mode in the forthcoming ChasePlane edition (f.i. re the failed atempt by FCR to add a fly-by/tower view in FS2024) Keven Menard, Technical Director at //42, wrote this :

quote :
FlyBy does stay on until you change it manually to something else. It will recycle when the aircraft reaches a certain distance from the camera and the cycle can continue for as long as you want.

Since this camera system was build for PC users, there is no “plane or camera” concept… You always have control of both at the same time.

How about THAT, éh ?!! :biggrin-new:

I think the fly-by scenes in the new CP video are absolutely brilliant but i remained worried about the fact that after each fly-by scene the camera would return to cockpit view instantly. As you know (fly-by/tower view afficionados that is...) a proper Fly-By camera mode will stay in that mode until the user changes to another view mode. Meaning that we can look at our precious silver bird flying-by against the ever changing gorgeous backdrop of FS24's magnificent land- and cloudscape until the end of virtual time ! And on top of that we're still in control of our plane !

Well, actually it's of course nothing out of the ordinairy really, is it... A proper Fly-By view mode has always been like that and it may well be that it is one of the reasons MSAsobo didn't want to have their fingers burned on it (re again FCR...).

Personally i am almost in ecstacy because of Keven's comments ! I have never been really happy with MSFS let alone MSFS2024 ( yeah, right ! ) just *because* of the blatantly missing Fly-By/Tower View modes and i suppose with ChasePlane release around the corner i'll get a new start on both MSFS editions ! Let the fun finally begin !!! :jump:

If you have not seen the latest CP demo video here you go :

But the App will totally boggle your joystick/yoke commands and everything will have to be reset. :cautious:

What exactly makes you say that, Cassie ?

There's a 19 pages Chase Plane conferance over at Avsim and there's nothing to read about that... Besides, if that'll prove to be true i don't mind resetting my flightstick commands if that'll give me back my sorely missing Fly-By/Tower View !

There's no medal with only one side, surely CP will have its downside or possible impact like every add-on has but i can't tell you how much i miss that Fly-By and Tower View in MSFS/FS2024 and i'd be willing to give up anything or deal with any restriction or downside in order to get that back.

"Why don't you stick with FSX/P3D then ??..." you ask ? Yessir, that's a LOT of restriction and downside alright and WILL give me back my beloved Fly-By/Tower View.... But i have NOT been waiting for more than 4 years to get Fly-By/TowerView back into MSFS to give up. I have good hope the waiting is almost over now ! ;-)

If you will, let me know what the ground is for your comment, please. Do/Did you maybe use CP with FSX/P3D ? (if i understand correctly this MSFS version will be quite a different animal...)

Thanks !

Tis what I did Javis, reset my controls to Chase Plane's Settings after making sure there were no redundant commands left behind. Old men like for things to remain the same, ask my wife who is 19 years my junior. :ROFLMAO:

Old men like for things to remain the same..
Don't i know it ! Alas too late to let MSAsobo know... (they wouldn't give a hoot about it anyway, would they..)

So you won't be getting that new Chase Plane then ?..

( btw, i never liked the name of the title.. IMHO 'chase plane' view is about the most uninteresting view you can choose for a flight simulator camera view mode other then that it's just plain indecent to look an airplane up on its butt ;-)
