....Poor Ernie Banks,.....aka Mr. Cub. Never tasted the sweetness of a National League Pennant or World Series Championship. He certainly deserved so nevertheless. Along with countless Cub fans who went to their reward without experiencing those victories either.
...If I check my dismal facts for a moment,....ahhhh,...let's see,...the Cubbies LAST won the pennant in 1945. Heck,...WWII had just ended. And the last time they won the World Series was 1908. And Henry Ford was certainly proud of his Model T rambling around on rutted roads throughout the US.
As the ol' Chicago sports announcer,...Jack Brickhouse,...once commented: "Hey,...anybody can have a bad century!"
