Chinook & Lynx sounds...

Stuart,

The Lynx one sounds pretty near spot on to me (but maybe one of our more nautical minded colleagues can confirm that). The Chinook is also pretty good, although I think the distinctive Wokka blade 'slap' could be a little louder; have a listen to this and see what you think?

But no need to be embarrassed, they are damn good & I'd be happy to use both as is.

yeah a bit more slap to the 'nook would be perfect i think Stuart... great work! :salute: beers on me in the mess tonight! :ernae:

I use the Lynx from time to time. This sound is very nice cant await to get it :applause: I think I share this video in my FB group ;-) Lets see what the guys thinking about your sound.

Congratulations Stuart!

The most distinctive helicopter helicopter sounds over Britain.
Please let me know what you think before I do an upload , as I hate being embarrassed...:redf:
Any takers?

Happy Flying,

Stuart

Stuart, I tried to have a listen by following the links. I was informed I'd have to DL the latest flashplayer.
The last time I did that, for some reason my whole system went wonky till I dropped the 'update' (system restore!}.

I'd be proud as punch to look them over for you. If I can help somewhere, it would be a pleasure.

Please Stuart, don't be afraid of being embarresed!
The only people silly enough to mock such a venture, would be those who never dare try.

Fortunately, I'm sure that kind of mockery at SOH wouldn't be tolerated by the good staff and friends here.

OK, more 'Wokka blade 'slap' it shall be.
Talking of that, I always wanted to be able to create a gauge that would do exactly that.
Not only in the Chinook- but helicopters generally- you tend to hear the rotorslap mainly in turns and banks.
I know the PAD Dash-8 has a gauge, calling out 'bank angle'. It would be nice if I could attach some rotorslap to this instead of the announcement. Gives me something to think about... :)

Thank you all for the feedback, Happy New Year!

Stuart

Very true, Nigel!

Flashplayer can be a pain in the neck sometimes.

I will shoot you an email for a download link in the 'cloud'.
I haven't set one up yet...

Great to have this support at SOH, thank you!

Kind Regards,

Stuart

Both sound great to me, but only the Chinooks fly 'round here so I don't know what a Lynx sounds like other than vids. Can't beat that turbine/chop combo either. It is a simple int/ext set but I always thought Rory Kelly had a nice turbine sound for the CH46, for comparison. Now if you feel up to taking on another when you're done with these, the Bell Long Rangers and some other helos on FS always seem to lack that raucous turbine hiss/whine while at idle. The blade slap usually kicks in OK at RPMs but I think it would be swell to add that loud hiss while getting that last cup-a-joe before sauntering over to the pilot seat. I'd try it myself but have no clue how to edit sounds.
