I decided to download the map of Flanders from Polovski's site and cut it into many pieces in the size of an A4 sheet. Print every sheet, file it and you will be able to fly without the in-game map or the TAC just like the guys back in the War.
You can D/L the map from here http://www.sim-outhouse.com/soh_ftp/cfs3-maps/OFFMAP.zip
Take notes of balloon positions, enemy airports, artillery activity..increase the fun and the immersion!
Print the pieces so you will be ready when P3 comes! :mixedsmi:

I would, most sincerely folks, love to print off the Flanders map.
Problem.
I've got two machines, the other one has the printer.
I've tried to register and assign a password and it duly told me that it had sent an email confirming it.
It hasn't happened. That was nearly two weeks ago. I've tried again, this time to register but then it tells me that the email is in use.
Yes!!! It's mine. But I can't utilize the username that I've associated with it because the email telling me that I'm kosher on that other machine hasn't arrived. So on one hand it knows its in use but it won't let me register afresh because it won't let the other user name have its password accepted.
Still with me?
D'you think I should fly out to Flanders and draw a new map?

Thanks for the map Gousgounis. I had the smaller one but i was too lazy to blow it up and chop it apart.:costumes: I cant seem to locate my Squadron on it though. Jasta 11 Spring/Summer 1917. OFF says my airfield is Raucourt, But I can only seem to locate Rancourt in the vicinity of where "Raucourt" should be. Would this be the same field or am I blindly looking over something right in front of my nose?

Thanks,
-Rooster

Disregard my last post. I've found it...err at least the area where its supposed to be. I guess my 'drome is of the ones that arent on the map.

I have downloaded the map in A4 bits, but where is the original map?

I had a look at Pol's site but only saw FAQ's. The were some links at he bottom of the page to "theoldbrowndog" or something but that seemed to be a commercial site.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers MarkL

Thanks, Gousgounis;
it works; i printed out just some sheets - the area south of Douai, were my Jasta 11 operates, and I could fly by map! So, there's a next step into reality: switch off the radar, and try, how far you get.

Hi, Rooster
When you know roughly, were you drome should be, you could do some research in the field maps, I found here recently:
http://library.mcmaster.ca/maps/ww1/WW1_Maps.htm

Interesting to study anyway.

You can just log in with the username and password you already have on your other pc. There's no need to create a new user for every pc you use. (Forgive me if I misunderstood your problem, I assumed you were trying to create another user to acces SOH from your other PC)

Strange as I cant seem to find it anymore....:isadizzy:

Gousgounis: "Strange as I cant seem to find it anymore...."

You haven't chopped up the original, have you ? (lol)

No I drew it up on a napkin after hours of flying :costumes:

I did chop up the original but I reduced its size and then just moved it to the recycle bin..hope Ill find it someplace on my messed up hard disk! Maybe Ill upload it as well if ye want the original "king size" one.

Thanks Olham. I've found it and marked it on my map. Looks like our Jasta 11 'drome is east of Aniche, south of the railway.

To Gousgounis: When you can draw such a map on a napkin, you will be well-received as an observer pilot everywere.
No, I don't need the big one - I'll print out and glue together your parts, of just around my aerodrom. Good idea, thanks again

To Rooster: isn't it a special feeling, when you find your aerodrome on such old field maps? To me, it is - reading all these handwritten notes, after all the time. Touches me...

Dont glue them! It will be hell. Thats why i broke em to pieces. file em in a dossier and ull be fine.

Aah - I understand. That's why I crashed into my wingman...
(God - we are silly alltogether, aren't we? But I didn't have so much fun since a long time).

Haha. I taped 6 of them together in the area around Douai. Had one heck of a time trying to hold the map up and mark with pencils while keeping my D.III straight and level.

Yes Olham. You definately get a greater sense of accomplishment navigating with real maps.

Gousgounis, please, exactly what is the name of the file on the web page you direct us to in order to get this map? There doesn't seem to be anything with either your name or Polovski's. Ta ever so.

Ehm...you just click on my link at the first post mate.

Found it, Gousgounis. I amazed why I didn't manage to open it the first three times I went there. Thanks a lot.
