last saturday a hiker was being stalked by a mountain lion and called 911 for help,CHPs helo H20 out of auburn KAUN responed and scared it off....ive been on the Stevens trail many times...its steep country..in the North fork of the american river below Cape Horn near Colfax Ca,if you know railroad stuff...and the first transcontinental railroad history,Cape Horn is where the chinese were supposed to have hung in baskets to blow the rock from the mountain to cut a ledge for the railroad..the stevens trail is just below this site about 150 feet or so as it winds its way down to the river,,yoou have to pass through mining camps set up on the trail as well as look out for marajana grows along the way,and the trail now ends in Iowa Hill,,,one of the only places left in california with no electricity or running water ect..the trail was a pioneer trail which went from Virgina City NV,in the Comstock lode to marysville i believe.
