Clutch Cargo Condor over the Andes - Willy

Left Salta and took the redeye Panagra flight back up to Maracaibo to pick up my freshly delivered Focke Wulf 200A Condor. It's still in it's Syndicato Condor paint although the company folded back during the war. I think I'll leave the paint as is for now. Miz Nellie said that my new cargo should arrive sometime today so hopefully we can get moving. As it is, I'm running short on time so I won't be able to hit all the airports.

Trying to fly and translate these German gauges at the same time should be interesting.....

I've got maybe 30 mins in this FS Condor. Probably about 10 hours in the old CFS1 C model which was about 10 years ago. And I'm still sorting what all these funny looking gauges and radios do.

The AI is mostly California Classics Propliner AI with custom flightplans.

Just checked the FS9 data folder. I've got 1.2 engine hours on the Fw 200A.

Widgets safe in Bonoco. FS froze up on me just as I was getting into the mountains. Thought I was going to CTD for a bit there, but it eventually went back to flying.

Oops!

This is what happens when you come in too hot. Maybe I can blame it on the KPH to KIAS conversion?

I'm going to call it a night and rethink this a bit....

I think that the fact that the plane was square on the center line of the runway, just past the numbers and you had enough presence of mind to grab a screenie from that angle and nice crash effects should make the whole thing right.

The flight is as good as Green IMHO ... :mixedsmi:

Might have to use the shift+Z speedo ??

About the visual damage effects, I never turned them on for the Fw 200 as I haven't been flying it. I just rectified that though. The next one should be more spectacular :icon_lol:.

Considering how little time I actually have in the civil Condor, it really wasn't that bad of a crash landing. If I hadn't gotten worried about not having enough runway and dove for the numbers at the last second, I'd probably have made it. I had full flaps on and it was trying to keep floating above the ground.

I've had the shift z on to keep track of the altitude so I don't break the ceiling. I do know that 3km on the altimeter equals 9800ft now.

Oh well, I get to do it again later on.

Time to try this again. Good thing I saved the flight last night at Bonoco.

Muleshoes delivered.

Interesting flight but I stayed high enough for most of the way that I only had to dodge a few peaks. I do hate flying in the clouds with all that granite around....

Mystery cargo this time... Some goon back there riding shotgun on it with a double barrel 10 gauge. I believe he can have it.

Goodness gracious Willy, is that a manual HF antenna ?

I gotta get me one of those.
:)
...Also love the bottle opener hanging off the grab handle- classy.

Beats me MD. Whatever it is, it's pretty well roasted now.

I can't seem to keep the Condor lined up with the runway even without a crosswind. It always goes into an uncontrollable drift off to whichever side strikes it fancy. I did about 4 go arounds at La Nubia and a couple of times almost crashed doing those. On the fifth try, I just knew I had it and as I was about 50ft off the ground it went into a hard slide to the right and into a bunch of trees.

I'm seriously rethinking this whole Condor thing.....
