Colorado camping weekend part 2 is out

Done this one last evening. It was more relaxed than No1. It was fun to follow a buddy along the way. I used the Carenado C172 and I could not yield more that 80 to 85 knots of ASI from it at 12500 feet no matter how I worked the mixture lever. so the AI was faster than me along the way and I lost sight of him half way out. I managed to catch up with him at Glenwood Springs by making a faster descend at downwind and I was on short final when he was clearing the runway. Here are a few screens:

Glad you liked the approach. This is exactly the approach I did in real life a few years ago. It was quite thrilling. We actually descended doing 360-degree turns over Glewood Springs, then went up valley, turned base, etc. While on "final", without having the runway in sight, another airplane took off from Glenwood Springs Airport (we were, of course, speaking on the radio), so I saw him pass in front of me as he climbed from my right to left side. Then, I cleared the mountain side to my right and saw the runway. By this time I was already on "short final", all setup to land. We used a short field approach and made a great landing. It was really fun ... and the simulator is very real. It really does bring back all the great memories of this trip I did. So, we're glad you liked it !!! The scenery is UTX for landclass and vector stuff (coastlines, roads, railways etc.) and the textures are GEX NA. IMHO the best value combination one can get to cover vast areas. It does not beat ORBX scenery in quality due to being generic but at least it is much better than default.

The approach was much fun! When the instructor said that we would have to descend from 10000 I figured we would do 360s but instead he advised to make a descending downwind leg. I descended at 110 knots but was still quite high when he asked me to turn base so I extended a bit and then made a 180 towards the runway. As you can see from the instruments in the screenshot the final is made at 60 knots with full flaps so yes it had to be a short field type to also clear that tree.

It must have been great fun in real life. Wish I had the chance to do it for real myself.
