Compatibility with dual core?

Hey all, I'm having problems again with CFS3, getting the same old random crashes in the middle of gameplay. I JUST TODAY learned that AMD released a fix for their 64 bit dual core processors (of which I use in my computer) called the Dual Core Optimizer, and I'm wondering, since CFS3 dates my AMD processor by about 5 years, if it would help my crashing situation by getting and installing this optimizer?

Hi C/Bronco,

I'm not sure it will fix your crash, but it will fix an awful lot of other issues that arise when using CFS3 with a dual core machine.

I would deffinately use this fix and see how you go.

for my dual core machine I used the second option of permantly disabling one core whilst CFS3 is running. this was done by editing the CFS3 exe file.

Hello C/BRONCO

I would bet that the dual core processors are not the problem with your game crashing, Never hurts to try a fix or upgrade though.

If you could give some detailed info on when the game crashes, I am sure someone would jump in here to help get it resolved

Hi, i too had same prob in my MAW install and others. Did you make any chges like add planes or addons?. You may want to delete usiel file and do a defrag right after. A lot of people posted about that here and it fixed my crashes.

I have no addons. Should I defrag anyway?

Also, I've just recently been having similar crashes in other games; everything's fine, no hint of problem, then immediate CTD with no error message. Fortunately I got an error log from one of the games and one error in that involved DirectX textures, so I'm thinking that DirectX might have a problem. I've heard from someone that there's a problem with having DirectX installed ON TOP of my video/chipset drivers. Should I try uninstalling/reinstalling those?
