As I normally frequent the CFS3 Forum, Ithought I would post this here rather than the Newshawk section.

Part 1

As previously advised the flight was a go and scheduled for 11.30.
Duly arrived at Duxford in good time and made my way to the Classic Wings office just past the control tower, having first taken a look at my steed.

Went through the pre flight briefing and put on my flying jacket.

So out to the Tiger Moth and wait for the person in front of me to get out. Took him some time as he was a big old bloke!!

Took him some time!!!
Now what could I be looking at?
P5162388.jpg

Well at last the bloke in front of me was out and it was my turn!

At last all strapped in and ready for the off.

So we taxied to the take off point but were advised by ATC to hold short as the reason for me looking skyward in the picture was about to do a practice routine for the upcoming Jubilee airshow.

Part 2

There we sat for about the next 10 Min's or so whilst the two seat Spitfire went through its routine. Now the Tiger Moth flight was a fantastic present, but to sit in one and watch a Spitfire perform its routine was just way beyond my expectations.
A really terrible shot but does show the Tiger Moth with the Spitfire coming in to land after its performance.

Following that it was out to the runway to depart.

Takeoff run was very smooth despite an 8mph cross wind.

Airborne!

And Away.

We flew around the Cambridgeshire countryside for about 10 minutes and made our way back to Duxford. This took longer than normal as we were held in the pattern to let "Snafu" the P-47 land!!

Once landed it was the turn of the next "pilot". They sure do turn them around quickly.

Whilst waiting I was stood out on the grass waiting to come back when a Corsair took off to practice its display.
P5162486.jpg

How cool is that?
Anyway one happy "pilot".

So what a day!
Where else can you sit in a Tiger Moth to watch a Spitfire demonstration, be stuck in the pattern behind a P-47, and be stood on the airfield when the Corsair took off.
Why Duxford of course.
What a day.
Kev
PS. Each and every flight is recorded by a small on-board video camera. Will it be worth the money I paid for it? We will find out in about 10 days time. I think I feel a youtube edit coming on.
PPS. I have to thank my wonderful wife. Not just for the present but also for taking the pictures on my camera which she had never even used before.

You Lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky....*******! Nice one Kev and thanks for sharing with your old mates.

Ace pics Kev. Glad you had a great day. (Please note, not a jealous word have I written!)

Type 82s really are the dogs ********.

Thank you for taking the time to share your pictures. Duxford is a great gaff to visit but to fly around it is summink else I'm sure.

Oh, 'appy burfday neighbour!

Graham.

Clive, I have not stoped grinning for 3 days now.

Too cool! $ well spent.:ernae:
You wife is a keeper.:salute:
Story's like this is what make's SOH so good.

What a beautful field Duxford is. Those colours and shot of the Corsair is rare. [Make a good wall hanging.] Wonderful, wonderful machinery you have there. Half your luck!!

Sweet! The rides at Rhinebeck are fun but no stick. They can carry 4 passengers in that thundering New Standard D24. I wore earplugs the last time I went. But a Tiger Moth? AWE-some!
