Hey all,
Consumer Reports has done a report on the iPhone 4. If you were thinking of getting one, here is some interesting information you might be wanting to know.
They did some extreme testing on the iPhone and found that you can lose your call by 'touching' the bottom left side (we all know that), but now its official. They explain how they do the testing and that other phones including the older 3Gs iPhone 'didnt' have any issues concerning signal loss by where your hands and fingers are.
Also, they could not see the point in Apples claim that the 'bars' or signal strength indicator could have anything to do with how your fingers can cause your phone call to be disconnected.
Here is the funny part. Duct Tape fixes the issue!!! lolololol.... Putting on some duct tape or masking tape along the edges of the stainless steel band will take away the issues. Seems that skin contact alone will cause the signal loss issue.
They sight that if Apple could fix this, at least with something that covers the area, that is 'free' (like a recall fix or something that enables the phone to work correctly), then Consumer Reports will back it and say 'you should buy it'. But presently, they say 'Do not buy this'.
Also, they had just tested a large number of new smart phones (several that is) and in 'all other departments', the iPhone came out way ahead and top of all of the phones.
If only the 'phone' part of the iPhone worked right, lol... arrgh... C'mon Apple! You are my fave company... Dont ruin it for me!!!
