Content xml rebuild

Hi All,

I am having a problem with an aircraft not showing in the aircraft selection menu even though it is in the community folder. This is a recent purchase (Kwikflight Spirit). I am in an ongoing support ticket for this problem but I thought I would ask here.

I was told by inibuilds support to delete my content.xml file and restart the sim and it would rebuild itself. This didn't happen, despite 2 reboots and 2 restarts of the sim?

Anyone have any advice on what might be going on?

Thanks,

Joe

The content.xml is for specifying the order in which scenery files are loaded into the sim (I think...) and you can create a new one in the Developer Mode\Experimental tab.
Regarding the aircraft no show, have you unzipped it into the Community folder inside another folder with the same name? When you open the actual aircraft's folder you should see a layout.json and a manifest.json file along with a SimObjects folder and maybe a couple of others.

I am sorry tiger1962, I forgot to mention that this is the Kwikflight Spirit published by inibuilds and installed using their installer.
It shows up in the community folder in its own folder. It is installed on another machine the same exact way with the inibuilds installer and does show up in the selection menu.

Thanks for the reply.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Content.xml is not used by MSFS anymore.
It is not since a few updates ago, in fact.
The functionality is now provided by the 'Package Reorder Tool', under 'General Options'/Experimental.

Hi Stearman,

Yes, in my subsequent research I have found several instances where others have said the same thing. And an interesting fact: my newer machine which is less than 2 months old does not have the content.xml file. So I do believe that MSFS does not use it any more. How I miss the file structure and non-encrypted folder structure of previous versions!

Thanks for the reply,

Joe
