Control question: using the mouse in the cockpit, HOW?

Does anyone use their mouse in the cockpit to operate switches, knobs, levers, etc. like we did in all the earlier sims?

Mine only highlites the control, then asks me what button I'm supposed to push!?!? I cannot get the mouse to interact with anything in the sim, although the curser does highlite what would normally be clickable, along with nomenclature.

When I have my Saitek panels connected, they work most everything, as does the Alpha and Bravo yoke and throttle.
Since I don't have any of those connected right now, I would like to be able to just use the mouse as before. Ideas? Settings?

Found it...

Options > General Options > Accessibility > User Interface > Cockpit Interaction System

Switch from Lock to Legacy and you'll be able to use your mouse in a more normal way.

Yea, I think that was ticket. I remember getting locked out of my virtual cockpit also early on in this MSFS with this mouse trouble.

I'm sure there are instructions somewhere covering stuff like this, but I can't find them, not even on the Microsoft site. I miss the "handbook" we always had before.

Even if someone decided to write "The Idiot's Guide To MSFS." It would be obsolete in a year since Asobo loves to keep changing things up. This Lock interaction mode was designed for console users that don't normally have a KB/mouse attached, and was introduced to the sim as part of the Xbox release.

My setup was set to legacy and it still doesn't work. On Avsim they said something about clearing the mouse config in the control options. I'll try that and report back.
