Copying CFS2

Hi guys, I wanted to make a copy of CFS2 so that I could start bringing in some different planes & scenery. So I renamed the original game CFS2-A. Then I put Disc #1 in & added it when prompted to do so. It seems that CFS2-A is gone. I only have this new one. I guess I don't know how to make a copy. Any advice?:banghead:

Don't reinstall...just copy your original and rename the copy. Make a desktop shortcut for the copy folder's CFS2.exe file and rename the shorty to reflect the name of the new copy. Many folks think that they have to keep reinstalling the sim to create new copies. That's not so...unlike some other sims and games, simple copy/renaming will do.

Yep, as bearcat says, you do not need to do an install to have a second copy of CFS2. That is because CFS2, unlike most software, does not need to be in the Windows registry to run properly...or at least I think that's right. Simply create a new folder and name it Korea, WW1, Fred or what ever. Then go into your original CFS2 install, go to the EDIT menu, click on SELECT ALL, then COPY. Then go into the folder for your new install, do to EDIT, select PASTE. Sit back while the files and folders are pasted into place. Once done, right click on the CFS2.exe file and send it to the desk top (create short cut)....but make sure that the short cut icon for the original install is renamed so that the new short cut does not simply over write the original short cut. I have my short cuts named "Stock", "Prop Test", "Jet Test". I will be creating a secong install for testing and tweaking Prop Planes and will name it "Prop Test 2".
