clean install again. (uninstalled CFS3 and two pairs of folders as per instructions etc)
ETO as far as 1.4 and hotfix and fully functional.
Back up the PC !
run era 1 then spawn 1.
then follow 1.5 install exactly as per instructions Grizzly50 :-
AND ETO START SAYS CFS3.exe not found.
here is the full details if it helps :-
step 1. unzip 1.5 then unzip the file remover zip file. Read the instructions within.
Copy the remover.bat file to my address all the updates so far have gone into. C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion
right click on the remover.bat file and choose properties>compatability Win XP sp3 if your pc is win7, I do this as my pc is win7 64bit pro.
right click on the remover.bat file again and choose run as admin it says, (my normal method anyway)..it runs.
Now delete the bat file it says, I do that.
step 2. Now run the 1.5 updater.exe file, I do that (r/c run as admin), pointing it to my address C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion
I note and honour that.
I double click the zapper icon on my desktop as I read that part of the sentence, then read the part that says 'after you have sent the above-referenced icons to your desktop.
Did I jump the gun, but that shortcut that has been there since 1.0 called ETO BDP Zapper and thankfully it points to the only BDP zapper.exe I now have, looking at its target, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion\CFS3 ETO Expansion BDP Zapper.exe" and the fact that its the only zapper.exe I am ok, ?? so I was ok to do that ?
I search on *zapper* on c drive and find the following.... the BDP Zapper.exe dated 9 july 2010 16:07 and the ZX Zapper.exe same date and time. Both in the Expansion folder in my x86 address. Are these the NEW zapper files, how are we to know ? There are no others on C drive with zapper in the name to make shortcuts from.
Have I to go and locate these three new exe files and then make shortcuts for all three of them on my desktop ? alongside the existing shortcuts, Sure sounds like it. I am PC literate so know how to do such, might the names clash, if so I can alter the names adding the word 'new'. Others would flounder here.
So we end up with two shortcuts on desktop both called ETO BD Zapper from what I read of what we have to do.

Moving on, I manually delete the viewui, as done before so know where that lives, via user/name/ etc etc
then ditto for unlimited pilots, noting that we had to also do this in 1.4 but not required in hotfix.
Run era 1 and get CFS3.exe cannot be found !
I am running from the the ETO Start icon on deskyop, created with 1.0 maybe its no longer valid if the other icons are replaced.
I browse to the Expansion folder on Progs x86 and run it from there, I get the attack in the west, then it fails.
Try again and it runs. The shortcut that ran it right up to 1.4 ... is that now defunct , along with talk of leave the old ones alone, but make new ones ?
Its all a bit confusing this new exe and make shortcuts to them, but no mention is made of the exe start file though.
