OK, years ago he got away with murdering vacationing Natalie Holloway in Aruba. He got away with it because his daddy was an influential judge in the tiny nation.

In a coincidence that can only be termed evidence of a psychopath, Joran Van Der Sloot murdered a Peruvian girl, Stephany Flores, on the day of the fifth anniversary of Holloway's death! Except, this time, he wasn't in Aruba, he was in Peru. Also, this time the family influence was with the victim's family. She was the daughter of a prominant Peruvian race car driver, Ricardo Flores.

What makes this murder stink even worse is that this slimeball was at the same time trying to extort money from Natalie Holloway's mother! He was trying to exchange information on the actual fate of Holloway for money he wanted her mother to pay him! This sort of redefines the term "creep" doesn't it!

Worse, Holloway's lawyers alerted Peruvian law enforcement, but it seems the Peruvian police was not able to arrest him on these charges before he murdered this young woman.

In my view, the mere fact he murdered a second time on the anniversary of the first murder really proves his guilt. Five years after the fact, that's an extreme amount of coincidence to suspect it was merely coincidence. To further cement his guilt, after he left his hostel room (where the woman was found the next morning dead) he immediately fled the country. However, this time the government was doing its job. Interpol assisted, and he was arrested in Chile today. Already the Peruvian government is working for his extradiction. I hope he fries!

I feel so sorry for the Floreses'. To have their daughter murdered is bad enough. But to have it happen by the hands of this person makes it worse.

Interesting thought...
If the victim was innocently going about her business, what would be worse:
Being killed by an act of God, or war, accident, or by a homicidal maniac?
What about if she somehow contributed to her demise? Would that make it better or worse?

I'm not at all following your point.

Accidental death is not a crime.

Murder is a crime.

Why would you even insinuate that she did anything to put herself in position to be murdered?

All life ends in death. But only the criminal is considered immoral. That's been true since the beginning of human civilization.

He will be a popular boy down in that south american prison, what do they do to convicted killers there?
 
Dont be too confident Ken, if he got enough money he can get away from it, it´s southamerica (where i currently live) and most if not all courts are corrupt to the 9th degree in all countries, in fact, i´m 90% sure he is currently under extortion by the local lawmakers, a couple of big tens and he might get out quickly unscratched, sad but true, in the other hand, if he gets the axe, he would get into the horrifying south america prison system, and most likely murdered under contract at the joint.

They become leaders at the joint, his reputation precedes him, he might be challenged by the local "caporal" (jail boss) but if he plays his cards right, he can even become a gang leader, it´s weird, completely different than in USA, south american prison system, is very permissive, you get visits 3 days a week, it doesn´t matter the date, if you want, all of them can be sexual encounters with your spouse/partner/couple.
I know this since my wife used to work for the red cross, and she went into the prison system in south america along the UNICEF looking for "prison kids"(kids that were born in prisons and live there with their imprisoned mom), it´s not a paradise either, drugs run free and sexual abuse is also part of the day to day basis...

but didn't intend any insinuation about the victim.
I wondered how it made it worse for the family is all.
The family suffers the loss...do they want more revenge because it's a really bad guy?
Anyhow I won't pursue the thought further, it heads down a very dark path indeed.

The good thing about all of this is that Peru and the Netherlands do not have a treaty to exchange prisoners, so instead of serving his sentence in a cozy Dutch cell, he will have to rot in some Peruvian prison. From what I've read on those you're better of dead.
 
After typing in "Peru p" in google, it helpfully suggested "peru prison conditions" as the number one search item. It would appear a lot of people are curious about that suddenly.
 
I know I should stay out of this but you are correct, what a skum buckett, I could tell by his eyes he was lieing years ago, I hope he rots in prison and I hope daddys money does not help.
 
I think the 'Iron Maiden' or the 'Rack' would be an appropriate tool to use get a confession from this dirt bag.
 
I don't think any amount of money is going to help this time. If he's guilty, he's doomed. The victim's father is a very powerful and influential player in Chile and no doubt wants this dude's head on a stake.

Van der Sloot's father is dead and he has no insulation in Chile, like he did in Aruba. Probably a certainty that he's going to prison there. Not so certain his probablility of surviving the first year.

I see your point now. My point is that he should have been in prison already and therefore the family realizes had justice been served the first time, this would not have happend. It is impossible to predict murder. It is, however, very possible to see justice done to someone like this slime, and if for no other reason, just to present him doing it again.

Peru, not Chile. But, you are right about everything else. The daughter's father ran a few times for the nation's vice-presidency and presidency! He has a LOT of connections within the government!

The girl was Peruvian and the crime took place in Peru. He was arrested in Chilie because he fled his hotel room apparently immediately after he murdered the girl. Now it has been released that the girl died from blunt force trauma on the back of her head. It seems the jerk cold cocked her in the back of the head and killed her that way. Then he packed his bags, calmly left the hostel, got a cab, and paid for a multi-hour drive to Chilie to try to escape justice!
