Couple of Problems with FDG Donationware

Hey guys, I have downloaded and installed all of our FDG donationware aircraft the Ickie was kind enough to give as Christmas presents to us.

I am having just a couple of odd problems.
The F4F-3S Wild Catfish when selected in freeflight won't show and locks up the screen in black.

The F4U-1 VF17, VMF213 George Defabio, VMF213 Wilbur Thomas, VMF215 show up as pure white, no textures at all.

The P-51B, all, will not start their engines. They sit on the ruinway looking pretty, but no fire in the engines. I have tried auto start "E" key and manual start through the numbers.

The catfish and FM-2 are FS9 models. I uploaded them to the CFS2 section by mistake.
They will not work in CFS2 without doing a MDL conversion on them. I think there are probably a few guys working on that already...keep an eye on the forum here and if someone does do a successful conversion then they should be useable in CFS2 as well.

In your CFS2 Aircraft folder, open the Fdg2_F4u-1 folder and check out the texture.1, texture.2, texture.3, and texture.4 folders. They should have the same number of files inside as the texture folder (12 files).
What OS are you installing into? Vista or 7? And if so, do you have UAC turned on or off? If UAC is on and your CFS2 install is located in the "Program Files" folder, it's probably blocking the installer from creating those texture folders properly. Try to reinstall the Corsair pack by right-clicking on the installer EXE and choose "run as administrator".

I haven't seen that problem. Will need to look into that.
 
I am still in XP.
I have Windows 7 available on dual boot, but don't like working with files in Vista nor Win7.

I will uninstall the Catfish.

On the Corsairs, it is just that one Corsair and ALL of the skins EXCEPT the 124 main Texture.
I will check the number of files.
 
I have tried converting the F4F Catfish using MDLC 190...and got a Conversion Fail each time. Nearly a dozen attempts....and MDLC won't convert the MDL. It may need to be manually converted using a hex or scasm editor..both which are beyond my abilities.

Attach your FDG2_Corsairs_Install.log file here (Put a .txt on the end so the forum accepts the attachmenet).
It should be inside the FDG2_f4u-1 aircraft folder.

There should only be 13 files in each of the texture folders.
 
Okay...
Looks like the problem is that you installed the older F4u-1 Corsair after the big Corsair Anthology pack. This overwrote the first aircraft.cfg and blanked out a few things.

The old F4u-1 pack (FDG2_f4u1_cfs2_Install.EXE) was be superceded with the newer pack (fdg2_corsairs_cfs2_install.EXE) since that large pack also contains the -1 variant.
The big pack is newer than the -1 pack and has an improved MDL (a few more goodies and refined modeling).

If you rerun the fdg2_corsairs_cfs2_install.EXE installer, then all of your Corsairs should be good to go and not naked. :)


Back to the P-51bs not starting...
I wasn't able to duplicate that problem at all on two separate rigs. Sorry! I hope someone else maybe has a tip.
 
I found a second FDG2 P-51B install for that and an update that took care of the starter problem.

Don't know what the original problem was.

I will over write with the newer Corsairs.

I'm glad to read Obio too got problems trying to convert Catfish, as I was turnig nut.
I hope somebody will succeed, but also far too complicated for me.
Thaks to the MDLC wizard who will do it.
