CR1 Software releases new RATA I-16 freeware promo.

Currently D/Loading the bird. Given its configuration I wonder how similar it was in handling characteristics to the GeeBee racers?

Yes it is.

Apparently Tom Wood (Crashwoody) formerly of SimTech fame is now CR1-Software, or at least a part of it.

His old SimTech Do335 is on the site too.

The Rata has been available from the Sky unlimited website for free for many moons now. That is if the SU site is still there, haven't seen Cerb round here for donkeys.

CR-1 re-vamped the Do-335 for FS9 and offered it as a donationware model some time ago. It had some nice improvements over the older SimTech Do-335, but it is the same model. The newer plane has much nicer skins, revised flight dynamics, a new sound file and changes to the panel.

I am thinking maybe he has done some work on the I-16 Rata now? :bump: Out with the old, in with the new....

After several hours of attempts, using multiple versions of MkMDL, this plane continually crashes CFS2 when selected in the Aircraft view of Free Flight.

No big deal, but I just wonder why ?

from the cr1 website Dornier page: "Set for FS-2004 (FS9) only."

As for the P-39... it's been discussed, both as a revamp for FS9 and as a possible 'dark side' new build. Then again, peace in the Middle East has been discussed too :icon_lol:

Hi SC,

there is a CFS2 native version of SIMTECH Dornier 335 that was released as freeware as well, but right now I don't know where to get it (maybe it was in the now gone SIMTECH site).

Here there are a few pics

If you can't find it, I could open a thread in the CFS2 section and upload it somewhere for a limited time.

Yep.. I have the original P-39/400 from simTECH that was set up for FS9, I just thought that maybe there was an updated version. I didn't see it on the CR-1 add-ons page tho... so I was just curious.

Thanks for the H/U anyway, PF.:icon29:

When I was growing up the Airacobra was my favorite warbird, took a lot of reading to convince me it wasn't as hot as it looked.

I'd love to see a new P-39, I'd even pay for a new P-39. Sadly, if there ever is one it'll probably be FSX only.

The SimTech model is pretty nice given its age. Even the vc is fairly well detailed.

Thanks JL - I actually DO have that one in my archive - you can find it at the following SimTech link as one huge d/l or (4) smaller Zip files:

I was just hoping to use the great textures of this new plane.... Oh Well.

Thanks again

srgalahad -
Just because it SAYS 'FS2004 only' doesn't always MEAN it won't convert....~
