Stalin helps with the Texturing of the Hangars........ in his own way....

all 9 hangars now placed awaiting final textures, then its onto the other structures.... as always if you feel you can help in any way, texturing, modelling interpreting satellite imagery, then let me know, am always welcome to outside help :jump:

I'd offer to paint, but with yourself and Stalin on board, that would be silly. As for modelling, never tried scenery and I have only got to grips with FSDS2 over the last year, probably forgotton most of it by now. Afcads I can do, or adding stuff with EZscenery, but that's not much cop either, lol.

Looking mighty good, will be nice to use with the new AI helo pack from flight 1.

also forgot..... JDT drop me your e-mail in a PM and i'll send over a copy for testing purposes once i get all the buildings placed.... getting the placement right then moving onto the texturing...

There is a way you can do it by making a large thin walled cylinder, then using the alpha channel of the DXT 1 texture to black out( make invisible) the spaces between the posts. You'll cut way down on the frame rate impact in this way. It's a clever way to make use of the alpha channel. If you would like details, please PM me. :ernae:

thanks doug will give it a go like you say, thin walled cylinder, alpha channel, standard black to exclude and edit the alpha properties in DXTBMP?

For inside texs, create the cylinder in FSDS, tex it as required, copy and flip the polys, should work fine, if I can help with Alpha texs/DXT/etc just holler.

IIRC (I was on a course there in '84, also used the nearby Royal Ordnance Moreton-on-Lugg facility) the hangars had round tops,'J' type?

Latest satellite imagery shows them as Apex roofed....

excuse the crudeness, had to write down their dimensions somewhere :icon_lol:

yeah, Credenhill as an SAS base only opened in 2000, prior to that they were at the old Stirling Lines, in Hereford Itself, Credenhill is the home of the 22nd Regiment The SAS, and is home to all the respective troops, Air, Mountain, Mobility and CRW. despite the bases size the SAS is only about 200 strong.... but feared globally by terrorist and other hostile parties... remember the Iranian embassy siege! CRW troop at its finest, the 'black' kit made famous..... also at Credenhill we have the original meaning of the term 'beating the clock', overlooking a small parade square is the regiment clock tower, on it is engraved the name of every soldier killed while on active duty with the regiment, the clock is an icon, as much so as the Pen-Y-Fan, if you go out on ops and survive you are said to have 'Beaten the Clock'

just wish people would stop assuming that the black gear is standard uniform! it's not, either civvies or SAS DPM with Petrol Blue belt and Sand/Tan Beret..... might dot a few casual types about... which reminds me... gotta make some darned Pinkies & Dinkies :monkies:
