Crew positions M3D file assignments?

Hi all,

I'm just curious as to how CFS3 calls the different cockpit models? IS there a section in the aircraft's XDP file that calls the cockpit for the gunner's position?

I'm just curious as I'm toying with the idea of creating my own aircraft in the future.

Thanks!

Yes, it's the 'Seats' section of the .xdp file. See the SDK that has the Damage Profile System explained.
For the model itself, you can study the Ju 88 3D-model that comes with the gmax gamepack for the proper setup of the parts' hierarchy.

Good idea, BTW!
It is strangely satisfying to sit in a cockpit of your own doing. Prepar for a sh*tload of work though. I started a single-seater in September and still expect a couple of months work in the future (if RL doesn't interfere).

A lot of time is spent trying to figure out what the darn thing looked like and how parts fit together (depending on the level of accuracy you are after). Of course I could have saved myself a lot of time buying original blueprints but those cost a couple of thousand bucks and that's obviously not going to happen... But try to find the best reference material available. It really helps. I 've found that some Erection and Maintenance manuals contain a lot of invaluable information when it comes to dimensions etc. that cannot be readily found through a basic internet search. In gmax I then converted that info to boxes of the said dimensions ( I call them my 'calibration boxes') and made sure the model conforms to those dimensions. It is one way of doing things.

Have fun!! (May I ask what you are planning? I might have some books etc. for you)

I'm thinking of starting off basic, maybe a Tiger Moth or something beyond simple to learn the process.

The eventual goal would be to put together a IL-2 or IL-10.
