CTD with certain planes, weapons loadouts

I'm surprised I haven't noticed this before so I need to pose a dumb question.

After downloading certain aircraft - usually somewhat older repaints of stock models (not AV History Aircraft or aircraft from, let's say, Reg's Hanger) - when choosing loadouts, I get a CTD. For example, and this is only an example, I recently installed the fw-190a Sterr from the CFS3 downloads section and, after choosing any weapon, it crashed.

This would suggest I'm missing pylons or weapons to match the selected loadouts, but this does not appear to be the case. I've looked in the XDP files as to the loadouts for the aircraft involved. They seem to have pylons and weapons loadouts which indeed match pylons and weapons contained in those respective files, either stock or GC. So I can't figure out what's going on.

Any help would be great.

This occurs with aircraft installed in ETO expansion and MAW (probably PTO as well, but I haven't made a study of that.)

I have run into this a time or two myself. One, I check inside the new aircrafts folder for pylons, weapons, shared, or guns items that need to be copied out their respective folders. Two, I make sure that I have the latest AV History weapons pack if I use any 1% Aircraft from that site, and three, don't forget to run the BDP zapper after installing new airplanes....one of those has been the fix for me more often than not.....

Good Luck

I am careful to look at the readmes and make certain I've installed the pylons and weapons that come with the aircraft. In fact, as noted, the installed pylons and weapons (found in the Pylons and Weapons folders) seem to match the loadouts. That's the puzzling part.

Additionally, as I understand it, the latest AV History weapons and pylons are part of ETO Expansion and MAW. It's not the AV History aircraft that normally present this problem either.

It's not many aircraft, but it's a bit annoying. Again, it seems to impact only those repaints derived from stock CFS3 aircraft - FW 190s, B-25s, Bf109s, etc. But not all of them. Some work without a hitch. In fact, in PTO, I cannot locate an aircraft that has this problem - probably because none of them are repaints of stock CFS3 planes.

Very odd.

:kilroy:Wsmwsm, I just downloaded that plane and had a look at the XDP file. I found your problem.

The pylons are OK. It's the bombs. The loadouts in the XDP file call for "g_sc250_Stabo_d", "g_sc50_d", "g_sc500_Stabo_d", "g_sc500_d", "g_sc250_d", and "g_torpedo_d".

I haven't seen those weapons. They are not AvHistory. They are also not stock CFS3. I have seen this with some planes. It's as if the author of the aircraft modified the loadouts with some weapons that are non-standard or easily available.

However, try this:

1. Backup that plane's XDP file somewhere safe, outside of the game install.

2. Open the XDP file inside the plane's folder with Notepad, and simply delete the two characters, _ and d (_d), from the end of the weapon's name, and don't bother either of the " marks in front and back of the name.

I hope this helps.:d

Just "_d"? I'll try soon. Thanks.

:kilroy:Wsmwsm, yep. If you look in the weapons folders in either ETO or stock CFS3, you won't find any of the weapons names on the folders ending in _d. The name of any individual weapon in the main weapons folder is what is in the XDP file under Loadouts, within the quotation marks.

The mystery of those weapons is now solved. I just found 'em in my CFS3 Firepower install.:d

Thanks, missed a couple of "_d"s at first, but deleting them did the trick. Didn't notice the suffix when I intially looked at the XDP file so it seemed they read exactly like the stock weapons.
