Cub for free question

I just installed Cub For Free by Bill Lyons and can't get the passengers to show. The readme says to use the / key but when I use it nothing happens. I noticed that the / key was assigned to something else so I deleted that assignment and left it blank but still nothing.
Since there are no assignments for putting passagers in planes ,I'am at a loss as to how to do it.
Any ideas?
 
The / key is the spoilers/airbrake key. Put it back the way it was. Designers link special animations to preset ones. In this case instead of extending an air brake, which the cub doesn't have, it makes the passengers appear.

The problem was the spoiler key was assigned to just / instead of num/. When I reassigned the key ,I assigned it to num/ instead of just /. By default the key was assigned to just the forword slash key instead of the num/ key on the num keyboard. I don't know why this made the difference but just using num ,forword slash worked.Don't know if any of this makes sense,I'd have to read it myself a dozen times to get it.
Anyway thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction.

I'd forgotten how much fun it was...
hadn't had it out of the hangar in a couple of years
 
The Cub was my first Bill Lyons airplane. Flew the wings off it untill I discovered the Goose. Probably didn't fly anything else for a year after I installed that one.

Bill was a true master at creating immersive planes and packages, I miss him.
 
I still love Bill Lyons' stuff, especially the Cub and the Tiger Moth. His others are worth finding just for the scenery - I had never raced a train before I found one of them, though I can't remember which now. The Travelair, maybe?
 
love the Cub package too

I love the Cub package but once in a while when loading a flight the sim will freeze at the black loading screen. Doesn't happen every time but when it does I have to wait for the "Microsoft has encountered a problem" which takes forever to come up or Ctrl Alt Delete out and start over again.Any thoughts?
 
Just a guess here:

Pre-made flights can sometimes cause problems if the developer's FS setup is not the same as yours.

The flights call up scenery, weather, aircraft, ai, season, etc. If anything in that mix conflicts with something in your sim or if any part of Bill's package was not installed as he intended you can have a problem.

I'm not sure what's in the Cub package, but I remember having problems and crashes caused by some of the sound effects and music players he liked to include. I think the problem was caused by the fact that many of these packs were originally developed for FS2K.

I installed the package ,just as Bill said too,I don't think there's a music or Cd player with this but haven't had time to check that all out.
I know the Tripacer and Goose package does and if I try and use them I get a CTD every time,but I don't think the Cub package does,so maybe it a combination of scenery ,weather and who knows what else ,like you said. I'am glad it doesn't happen all the time cause I like the Cub, but it does get annoying when it's loading and you have to start over again.
At least you gave it a shot and maybe your right, thanks.
 
Hurricane you could try to load sim with default weather theme, and then change it to what you like. As i change weather theme to thunderstorm i always get crash when loading, i think its because of changes is sound folder.

Thats a really good idea, but I try ,(not always succesfully because I get impatent) to first load the default flight with the 172 at Seattle then go to select a flight. Only thing is thats when it usually happens but like I said not always,maybe one time out of five. If I could work out somekind of pattern as to when it does it for sure ,I'd have a heads up on it, but even if I start from select a flight ,sometimes it freezes sometimes it doesn't. Could just be this almost 10 year old computer.

As usual forgot something

Guess what,I forgot something, me of all people, anyway what I forgot was I have most all of Bill Lyons stuff and this other than when I try and use the CD player or use music is the worst for freezeing up at the loading screen. Of course I haven't used it that much ,but the others although they have froze on occasion don't seem to freeze on loading as much.
