I've been trying to find a good P&W 2800 sound for the C-46 Commando.

I can't find Lawdogs files ( I'm sure he did one ).

What do you guys recommend ... please ?

Thanks.

Pete.

Thanks Oleboy.

I finally found Lawdogs files ( under Achives ) but there's no C-46 sounds there.

I'll keep trying various sounds.

Pete.

From what I'm finding on the web, the P&W 2800 double wasp sounds real close. I know Lawdog did a few or more. Maybe just try them. He also has single and duo sound configs in them for different uses

Thanks Oleboy.

I thought someone did a few modified sound cfgs using the SOH A-26 base sounds ..... but then I might be thinking of something totally different.

Pete.

Hi,

This is the only modified sounds (from the M.S Invader) I find at Flightsim.com

This sound.cfg replaces the one uploaded in August 2008. Both the interior and exterior sounds have been improved. Please replace the sound.cfg you already downloaded by this new one. In my search for a good sound for the Canadair CL-215 amphibious fire tanker, I struck on the fabulous soundpack for the beautiful Douglas A-26 Invader of Milton Shupe and the Sim-Outhouse Team, made by David C. Copley. Most of the wav-files in this soundpack are recordings of the Pratt & Whitney Double Wasp R-2800 engines of an A-26 Invader. Having studied the Invaders sound pack, I discovered that by tweaking the sound.cfg, particularly with regard to the exterior sounds, it became possible to develop a good exterior CL-215 sound (2 engines). No changes were made to the wav-files, as I didnt want to modify them; the wav-files just sound wonderful. In order to make your system reproduce the CL-215 sound, first download from www.sim-outhouse.com the great Douglas A-26 Invader package and enjoy flying that plane. Then copy the sound pack of the A-26 to the CL-215, and replace the existing sound.cfg by the revised one you just downloaded. You can also use this sound for the Martin 4-0-4. This CL-215 sound has been tested in FS2004 only. Special thanks to David C. Copley who gave his permission to upload the modified sound.cfg as freeware, with limited distribution, at Sim-Outhouse.com and Avsim.com. Many thanks also to Milton Shupe. Author of the original sound pack: David C. Copley. Modified sound.cfg: Maarten Brouwer.

Hi there,

The soundset delivered with Libardo Guzman/CalClassic's is very good, particularly if one leaves out the high whining sound ("Convair sound") at higher rpms. Very much like the real thing (which is the R-2800-51 or -75; the "B" series of the R-2800 Double Wasp). From what I found out while tweaking David Copley's SOH A-26 Invader sound for the DC-6 and CL-215 is that the recordings for that soundset must have been of "CA" or "CB" series R-2800 Double Wasps (not standard on the A-26 for the originals were "B" series engines as well). Some of the main differences (there were many) between the "B" series and the "C", "CA" and "CB" series R-2800 was the construction of the crankcase, different crankshaft and counterweights, different connection rods, etc. One of the results: quite a difference in sound between the "B" series (C-46, A-26) and "C/CA/CB" series (DC-6, CL-215, Martin 2-0-2/3-0-3/4-0-4 and converted A-26). In fact I replaced the original SOH A-26 sound for the not-converted A-26 by the sound of the Guzman/CalClassic C-46.

Cheers,
Maarten

I just want to thank all those who gave some feedback :ernae:

I've finally settled on the sounds which came with Milton's Howard 500.

I guess there's a lot of personal preference ( I like a deep throaty rumble :jump: ), coupled with the computers sound card as to what sounds good and what doesn't.

Thanks again for all your help.

Pete.
