SOH-CM-2024
From time to time I go back to this wonderful model Mike Stone did a few years back, but boy, some new skins for this beautiful girl sure would be appreciated. How about it guys, anyone wanna take a crack at it? A nice OD green and maybe a Navy Blue (fictitious) paint job would be really neat……

I just happen to have a paint template for the AT-9 that I did a couple years ago....and I did a OD green paint. I need to rebuild my OS and reinstall my software, but will crank out some FS9 compliant (32 bit with alpha channels) after I get my system rolling again. I got stupid last night while trying to find some info on one of the items in my WW2 collection.....I went to a site in Russia and by passed the warnings that it was a high risk site....my fire wall was punched through, shut down, and close to 100 viruses nailed my system in the blink of an eye. Doing full and secure formats and rebuilding from scratch.

Got my system back in order and took a look at the paint templates for Mike's AT-9 and quickly remembered why I didn't do much paint work on the plane. The inner wing areas..the bit of the wing right before you bump your head on the fuselage....the upper and lower wing surfaces use the same texture area. So, what color is on top of the wing shows up on the bottom of the wing.

Now, I could do some all over OD, all over Blue, all over Pink...but upper and lower surfaces will have to be the same color for the plane not to have a glaring paint glitch. I am sure that Mike mapped it that way with the though that the plane would only be done in bare metal.

I stayed busy yesterday gang. OBIO, I wanted to reply that Mike's Jeep can only be done in one color due to the matching upper and lower texture maps. It's a rather simple model too, meant more for FS2002 that 2004 I believe. Many a bomber pilot got his initial training in the AT-9. Though officially named the "Fledgling", it was almost universally called the "Jeep".

I have read several stories by people who had taken their advanced training in the AT-9 on their way to flying the P-38. Each of them said that the P-38 should have been used as a trainer to prepare them to fly the AT-9....as the AT-9 was a very hard plane to fly right and a very easy plane to fly wrong!

Even a solid OD green or NAVY Blue...

...paint skin would be neat as far as I'm concerned......I really do appreciate you looking into this.

i was working on a bare metal one with a primere-ed wing root... it might just work, i'll also take the OD one unless someone else wants it?:salute:

I will do up a few skins for the AT-9 tonight....overall paints in OD, Navy Blue, maybe even RAF trainer yellow for the fun of it.
