A close cousin for the Gruman F3-F IMHO.

Curtiss HawkIII (model BF2C-1 and models 68) for FSX-Acceleration and FS2004. Original & marvellous model by Ivan Hsu,

The tailwheel was a little low for me so I changed it to TAILWHEEL=-2.28,
Now on closeup of external view, I can watch as the tail wheel lifts a little with minimal throttle applied. The tail wheel settles back to what looks as normal at full stop.

Nice Sounds

Found a youtube on the CURTISS-BF2C by Ivan Hsu. The plane uses same engine as the Grumman F3-F (Wright R-1820). The sounds of this Curtis BFC-2 are pretty nice and I am thinking of aliasing the sounds to work in the Grumman F3-F.



 
Haven't put this one in FSX, have it in FS9 on the old box, it's a great model. There are two textures with it, one USS Ranger and one for the Chinese Air Force. Gray Eagle, I subbed the sound Tim did for the F3F-2 to this in FS9, as the default sound is aliased to a Japanese Zero. I have attach a small article Ivan included in the .zip. I compressed it from a Word format to PDF.

A predecessor to the BFC-1 and Hawk III was the F11C-2 and Hawk II aircraft. The BFC-1 was the same aircraft with retractable gear. Eduardo Fadul did a wonderful Colombian Hawk II, which our Mick Morrissey redid and improved. I did several paints for it, including a Paint Kit, also included Tim's sound. Have not tried it in FSX, but may. It's a well done model.

Installed USS Ranger in FS9. Here are what should put the wheel down, but also tie it down (takes away 99.9% of the 'bounce' due to engine torque and/or braking).

Did you ever notice that the front of the prop is silver and the back is black?
Wonder if the real ones were that way.....
 
Did not notice the prop paint (as I haven't stopped the prop). I am the type that if the model paint is polka dots it don't matter - as long as it flys and lands 'normal'.

Yes they were. This was done to avoid scattering of the sunlight, which would blind the pilot and the darker surface helps to sharpen the pilot's view.
