My prayers go out to the people of Australia that have endured so much devastation.
I fondly remember a deployment I did to Rockhampton/Gladstone in the mid-90's and how gracious people were towards that small group of Marines that invaded "Rocky" for the better part of 4 months.
I remember that a squad of my Marines got stuck in Gladstone without transportation back to Rocky. The fellow that delivered produce to the mess hall overhead their "plight", and gave them a lift back to Rockhampton in his personal vehicle. He left work just to drive them an hour back to base. To top it off he refused to allow us to fill his vehicle with fuel.
That's what you call a good host!
Sorry if I went of topic. Just wanted to share my story.
