last night i was attacked!
there was a virus alert pop-up,
"did i want to stop it?"
then i kept getting connected
to a site that so graciously offered
to sell me their anti-virus software.
duh, okay, i'll give yaz $60 bucks for your fricking program!
but only if ya stuff it up your keaster....sideways!
i was even directed to a viagra site, once.
BISTIDS!!!
i fought tooth and nail for several hours
and was finally able to put a stop to it.
i hope.
i have been using MS Essentials for about a month now,
and, for a while, couldn't get it to open or scan.
it's interesting that this coincides
with my subscription to PC Tools running out.
hmmm, very interesting.
what a coinkydink!

i would love to get my fingers on the throat
of these aholes for just a couple minutes.
pllleeeease.
i want to see them turn blue
and watch their eyes bug out.
then i would like to remove their digits
just to see how they like
typing attack programs with a flippin' hook,
not to mention wiping their butts with said hook.

everything seems back to normal now,
except i can not connect using internet explorer.
i tried to get it to work for several hours this morning,
no joy.
so i installed firefox.
i am less than ecstatic about learning a new browser,
but at least it works.
i liked having spell check,
which is gone.

there...i feel better now.

It sounds like the "I Think" virus, I did several restores that would work for about 3 days, in other words I restored to 3 days earler but 3 days later the virus was back. Finally I saved what I could to disk and had to do a full system restore. Don't purchase the saving software or all you will accomplish is having to cancel your credit card and your computer will still be down.

Thats a real bad virus.

there's no way in hell
i would ever purchase the software.

there was actually an address in the UK.
if i lived there, i'd go for a little ride
and have a wall to wall discussion with them.

we'll see about your 3 day theory monday night.

This is one of these stories that make me happy to be on a W98SE PC with a dial-up connection... for a few minutes at least:kilroy:!

I had something like that happening to me a few months ago. But the site was taking so long to show that I backtracked to the previous WEB page. In doing so, a pop-up message with Windows 7 colors and styles (remember; I'm under W98SE!!!) was warning me of a virus attack, asking me to click on it to stop the attack (duh...).

I simply pulled the phone plug (about 16 inches from my left hand), punched Control+Alt+Delete keys, stopped cold my browser (IE6), wiped-out my Temporary Internet Files and did a full virus scan. Found the piece of ... in a folder, fortunately incomplete.

Yep, I was happy... then I went back to exercising my patience with sites that takes forever to load:banghead:...

P.S.- Firefox does have a spell checker. I'm using it right now! Not so bad, whatdayathink? (this last word is being underlined in red, wonder why...):icon_lol:

You can get a spell checker add on for IE as well.

I had a similar one hit me a while back. I went back a couple of weeks to a restore point. Messed up some recently installed aircraft, but I haven't had the problem since.

This is an installation of Mojave and there is an air gap between this and my development computer which is not networked. You folks might want to check with your ISP for free security software. I work computer security at our agency and a month or two ago, one of our team did some research and found that most of the ISPs actually distribute free AV software.

i have to say that i am a bit surprised
that no one else picked up on the viagra part.
...leave it to MinuteMan.

so here's a question.
watching the viagra commercials on tv,
there's a warning about a serious drop in blood pressure.
so, why isn't this stuff being used as a blood pressure med? :jump:
