is there any chance to get a mission of the dam busters or anything like that?

if i remember correctly there was someone working on a Dambusters misssion who had even got so far as producing a demo video (possibly from the 'Band of Brothers'??). however i think that was over a year ago so I'm guessing it may have been shelved.

O-1 tried to get the targeting lights to work and to my knowledge, there was a limitation imposed by the game that didn't allow it. I have a new Lancaster model for the Dambusters, but it seems silly to release it since the game does not allow it work correctly.

The dams and facilities were ready as were the weapons and effects (I think) If it's only the lights holding the project up I'm sure it's worth looking at again?

Just a silly thought...what if the targeting lights were actually modelled as 3d objects with transparency that are part of the Lanc model but linked to an aircraft command and animated to be made to appear instantly? (the bomb doors command could be used since this one doesn't have any)
The 'beams' would have to be outside of the damage boxes.

I have a working solution that links the beams of light to a dummy bomb bay door. So what happens is as you get close to the target you open the bombay doors, the lights appear. The issue is two fold however, one is that the lights DO NOT reflect on the terrain, and second, with O-1's idea they would be speed sensitive which was important for success of the bouncing bomb. Now all that being said, I can put the dambuster Lanc back together and we could have the bombbay door solution, just need a way of getting the lights to reflect since this, as you know, was how they kept the correct height.

Just let me know what you guys want and it will take very little time to put this out as a possible solution.

Just to let you know in between the Hs 129 and the NJG Dorniers a new group of Lancasters is being developed and will be ready in a week or two. These will be limited however, to tallboy and grandslam and if wanted the Dambuster. The night versions will be released as part of the TOW project.

May there be a third light at the place the two real light are supposed to meet. If the third light is buried in the soil, you are too low.
... maybe stupid :)

As Ted stated, we have two problems. The lights do not illuminate terrain and the particle beam light effect can only be used in a forward direction and cannot be angled downwards.

However, now some good news. What I do have is a fully functional Leigh Light with an illumination cone of light based on the same concept as the new landing light in ETO.

This cone of light is focused and illuminates any objects in it's path like ships or coastal facilities.

All we need to release it is a new aircraft model maybe a Wellington as follows:

The aircraft model will have to have built in to it a Leigh Light designed as a gun turret that cannot be manned by the player. The gun I have for it targets ships not aircraft and will automatically train and shoot at any enemy ship.

The gun turret visual model is the Leigh Light and the muzzle flash is the light itself. Each time the slow rate of fire gun discharges the light stays on for six minutes.

Once the aircraft leaves the target area the gun will stop firing and the light will go off. It will only illuminate in the presence of enemy ships. The light will be manned by a AI crewman who will aim the light for the player who will then engage the U-Boat with guns or depth charges.

If you look at the landing light currently on some of the ETO aircraft you will notice how it works. The distance of the Leigh Light can be set as far out as we want and with the illumination cones it lights up everything the distance of the light both near and far.

I had asked Greg to build us a new Leigh Light Wellie but Greg is now retired from Aircraft building.

hmm

why dont we just make a normal lancaster well we wouldnt have to then just use normal bombs for time being then
use the mission that was made?

beautiful nacht!,sorry to hear about greg retiring,he has made some unbelievable aircraft for cfs3.
