Daytona...is it racing?

man i think they need to just dig it up and build some houses.....it was a great track in the 1960-70s...but now that the cars are so much faster...they just wreck to much,i think these cars need to stay on mile and a halves or less.Darlington is still one of the best for real racing, takes a wheelman to drive that place.

First: A big "Congratulations" to the #48 team. Under the conditions, that was one of the most dominating wins that I've ever seen! :icon_eek:

Second (A bit of a philosophical question): How much of that win was Jimmy, Chad, or that engine :ques:
Lots of Hendrick Chevy's out there but Jimmy's "stock block" just appeared to walk away from the field at will.....

I've never seen a plate race like that one. JJ had no drafting help, yet nobody could pass him. Weird. Congrats to the 48 bunch. As for who gets the credit, that Speed Hub show had an interesting take on this question. They noted that it seems we only ask that question when we're talking about the 48 team, at least these days. Jeff Gordon went through the same thing when he was winning races with Ray Evernham. But, the HUB guys suggested that at least in Jimmie's case, this is, in part due to Jimmie himself always giving credit to Chad and the team. These are historic times in NASCAR. JJ will probably win his 6th title this year. I'll appreciate it in five years, but, I just hope somebody else wins next week... :icon_lol:

Gotta disagree just a slight bit with you here...for this year, there have been a couple of races where it seems that certain Toyotas were walking away from the field too. That being said, I also agree in that you can't take away anything from Jimmie & Chad...That's why they've won championships (plural).

Rgr, but the point of the Speed Hub people was that when the Toyotas run away from the field, nobody asks "is it the driver or is it the crew chief?" We only seem to ask that question when Jimmie Johnson wins. Heck, I haven't documented it so I don't know, but they may have a point...

Which is why I also include Jimmie's engine in my question :mixedsmi:
But to go back to Toyota...Watching Kenseth's success this year makes me wonder if Kenseth has hit his personal best combination of crew chief & engine along with his talent...

possible its all three with both teams...im not going to try to predict who will win the championship..but i think the fight will be between the 48 and 20...unless someone comes on really really strong in the chase like tony did that year, but i heard tale that toyota cut horsepower on their engines after they had some problem recently..doesnt seem to have effected the 20 team...but the 18,11 are struggling ..the 15 and 56 seem ok...dont know..

About The Chase....
- Denny & Carl ain't been 100% right since Jimmie beat 'em both.
- Too early to tell now but Brad doesn't seem quite right since some of Jimmie's dominating performances this season
- Then there's Smoke who doesn't seem fazed at all by what Jimmie does....

Odds are now with Jimmie....Not sure of Toyota has the reliability (or Kenseth has the luck) to go all the way....
