De-shining the IRIS P-40: Help needed!

Hi, folks!

The IRIS P-40 appeared a little too glossy in my eyes, at least for worn warbird repaints.

So I pulled all my courage together and installed Ivan Hsu's MDLC (v117beta) and Morton's Windows GUI (into the same directory, of course!). After backing up the (no bombs) P-40E_1.mdl, I tried to set the specular RBG value to 0.1.
This is what I got:

Has anyone an idea what went wrong?

Tried the same with another model which seemed too shiny too (Hawker Typhoon), but ended up the same way...

Any help appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Markus.

Give it a go with MDLC V190. I find that V190 works better for shining and deshining newer MDL files.

Thanks for your answers, gents!

@ Obio:
Got any source for this newer version?
Google is not my friend in this case...

Are you taking about Morton's Windows interface for MDLC (at least I think it was Morton who wrote that handy dandy little gadget)? If so, shoot me a PM with your E-Mail address and I will send it to you.

D-OH!

Thanks for your help, OBIO! :salute:

Installed it again and failed miserably - again.
Then I took an other glimpse into the readme file and installed it into a 8-characters filepath (was "C:\Programme" before). That did the trick!

No shine anymore:

Now I know what readme files are for...

@ claudius:
Thank you for the HU. I simply ignored that file, because CFS weapons were mentioned...

Going to ask IRIS for permission to upload the de-shined model file.

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks, Tim. I'll put it someplace where reformatting can't get rid of it...

....Thanks Markus for going through this effort in 'de-shining' the IRIS P-40. It looks too phony otherwise....
