Dear Mr Clawson,

I would request your permmission to paint and modify your Douglas O-38 observation plane for FS8, I have a question is how can I remove the rear gunner figure and gun so I can make a pure trainer into it?

Thank You

I'm not Mr. Clawson (known as PuttPutt here on SOH, generally found in the FSX forum)...but I have repainted the O-38 before, along with several other of Mr. Clawson's planes. He is pretty open about people working on his planes (painting, modifying, converting, etc) as long as he is given credit for creating the plane/files and as long as no money is made off of his work. Just include his original read me file in your package and give him credit in your read me file and you are set in that regard.

Removing the rear gunner and gun would require the source code, modifying the source code, and re-exporting a functional MDL file. There is a way to remove the pilots, which I have done when converting his planes to CFS2, but then you would have empty cockpits. In CFS2, replacement pilots can be added using the DP file, but in Flight Sim, that is not possible without having the source code.

Hi, Casey, OBIO is right, the Readme in all my uploads says go ahead and repaint, etc., just give me credit for the original. Gee, I had forgotten all about the O-38; I'll have to go back and check, but I think it was the first or close to the first project I did with FSDS. How time flies when you are having fun!
