Hello fellow simmers. The past days have been very good with all the postings of the times past in aviation. During my journeys I come upon a great plane that I would like to have in my virtual world.
.....I hope to find a fine specimen of the DH-89 Dragon Rapide :jump:

Anyone?

DH.89 is the Dragon Rapide, the DH.80 is the Puss Moth.

Dave garwood did a great DH.89 if i recall.... use it regularly between Duxford and my personal farm strip...

I like to take a Rapide out of the grass strip at Glenorchy, New Zealand, head up north along the valley, come back around one of the mountains, and cruise back to the airstrip. It'd make a great airtour in real life IMO.

Dave did indeed do a great Rapide, the FS9 version is available at Flightsim.com as fs9_dh89.zip

Kind regards

John

Thanks John, i couldn't remember where i saw it, plus Oleboy, theres a paintkit for it also, i think thats over on the pond, or flightsim.com...

LOL, I got ERA induced is all I can say. All fixed now :)

Did Gary Jones by chance make sound files for this? A good sound pack is also needed!

Yes, Gary has made a sound pack. Dave Garwood did a superb job on this (he even did a version with floats), I love flying this little beauty.

It can be found, along with the Gary's sounds and oodles of lovely repaints at..... where else, The Pond, your one shop stop for anything classic and British!!

what is it with us Brits and these what others would call 'oddballs' :icon_lol: planning to make a new fictional farmstrip soon... better get scouting for an area... anyone got any ideas i may want to look at?

on another note Oleboy, you'll find she's a docile enough flier. and a great tourer. been up in the tour one once here from duxford... wish i could do it again, me and DeHavilland made aircraft again that is though... :icon_lol:

EDIT; Kit found on CBFS : DH.89 Paintkit

I like all the fame planes from back in the day. Hence, my name here at the outhouse and many other forums I enjoy where vintage is the rave. Classic British Files forum are a rare breed for a forum. I like that fact that they strive to produce aircraft only from their days in a historical sense, as it sets them apart with a goal within a specified category. That being a great part of the flight simulator community by giving us modelers expertise in their world of flight.
.....The more I get from CBF, the better it gets. Although I don't frequent their forums, I dooly love their archives and the modelers that share their skills there.

Now I will be on my way to get the famous Gary Jones sounds for her. Thanks Andy.

And to you again Gary Jones. Cheers

I would literally love to see Rob Richardson or one of the other frequent modelers over at CBF do this classic some more good. Who better, could do better :salute:

Does anyone know where I can get this repaint by Leon Louis? I'm not having any luck so far

Filename: dh89aff1.zip
Author: Leon Louis
Size: 1167kb

A Google search brought this one to my attention. Amongst others that can be found by putting the .zip (file name) in Google and searching. Most avsim links are dead.

Flightsim.com still seems to have that particular repaint, plus a lot of other colourful repaints by Leon Louis. :)

I must have missed it. Thank you :)

EDIT
Boy, there's a lot of goodies there if the search is done correctly. The search term "Dragon Rapide" gives the most treats.

FS2002/FS2004 DeHavilland DH.86 Express. This was a four engined development of the D.H.84 Dragon, developed in 1933 to meet an order by the Australian QANTAS for an airliner to fly the Singapore to Australia route. A number were operated by various military services. A total of 62 were built. The DH 86 had a busy career until eight were impressed into RAAF service from late 1939. Three kind of paint examples (Imperial Airways, Qantas Airlines, for military) are included. By Kazunori Ito.

You bet I do. And, I'll try it!!
..Thanks!!

EDIT
Kazunori Ito did a dang nice job on the DH86 Express. I think I'll start a new topic and add a few snaps.

Neat paint! I'd guess it will fit on the FsX version as the mapping is the same.

that won't be the last of them either buddy ;) got about 12 paints all backed up nose to tail outside my paint hangar...

Looking forward to seeing them Smoothie! All of them..lol! ;)

In the mean time, here's another DH89. Some here might benefit from it.

There are also some other unique specimens over at flightsimdotcom that I haven't seen. With a little fiddling you might find something you like. Try a search for (click the name too!) Dennis Simanaitis
