Deimos A-6 flight crew question

I have not been able to get the Bombardier to show up in the cockpit; just the pilot. Both aircrew's weights are entered. Help here? Thanks. NC.

NC,

You need to use the panel in front of the pilot and make sure use click on the bit i have highlighted. You can also open the ladders on the button above the co-pilot.

Just for the sake of trivia - we used to call the white blobs (clouds) in the sky and the black spots on the ground "cow plops". The VDI was very bulky and took some work to replace, but was pretty reliable.

It was that size because all nav and weapons delivery imagery was superimposed on it when in various modes - steering cues, dive angles, pullup cue, etc. It was very useable, but first generation. The size made it less cluttered and very understandable for dumb bells like me because everything was not all pinched together in a smaller space. It did seem like you were playing on a Radio Shack TSR 80 or Frogger due to the colors though.

The imagery in the model is not really as detailed as in the real one.

Well, the developer of this model chose to attach bombs to drop tanks vs to actual pylons, I suppose for simplicity sake. Obviously not correct, but for ease of designing I think. NC
I agree with you, I will avoid using this MOD. Too bad it could have been a PLUS.

Six bombs would be attached to a standard Multiple Ejector Rack (MER) rather than whatever these things are - not even Aero series drop tanks that I recognize. Perhaps the modeler did not have any good info on what a MER looks like. The MER would be then attached to one of the 5 A-6 pylons. MERs and TERs were used by A-4s, A-6s, A-7s, Etc. I am not sure what the Hornets use thes days.

TERs were typically used on outboard stations that did not have the load capacity of inboard wing stations. In either case, thes racks contained electrical wiring routed from a mounting pylon through quick disconnects, and used sway braces to hold the bombs firmly in place, ejector cartridges to drive bombs away quickly when released, and fuse arming wires if bombs had mechanical fuses. An entire MER or TER could be ejected from its parent mounting pylon if necessary but the bombs would not be armed in that case. This might have to be done in case a bomb did not release from a MER / TER and would be a danger during a carrier arrestment.

The release options were selected by the pilot and sent from a weapons control panel through the pylon, to the suspension rack, to each bomb mount on the rack.

Merida72, I do understand your decision to avoid, but I just want to say (for me at least, and have read many similar opinions) that this aircraft is a lot of fun to fly. I flew the A-6 in FSX and P3D, and the handling characteristics were quite similar. Especially when using the wingtip spoilers. I have them assigned to a axis control on my throttle, so I can adjust how open I want them. I don't know if such adjustment was true for the real aircraft. But the effect results in ease of controlling the approach speed. Of all the aircraft I fly for carrier ops, the A-6 is the most fun. NC

Chief - the Speed brakes could be deployed or retracted (called "blipping") in any increment using the slide thumb switch on the inside of the right throttle. This was also the case i nthe A-4, A-7 and A-3 as best I recall.

Yes I also bought it attracted by a strong discount on the market, I wonder what else is the reason to make a MOD of weapons like this. I certainly will not use it

I believe the reason for creating it was simply to provide the option of visible weapons, regardless of the inaccuracy of how they are mounted.

The A-7s "board" was a big'un!

Would like to see a "better" A-6 in MSFS, but I may "settle" for this one if an update appears fixing some of the issues. I'm watching and waiting.

...The cockpit does not seem to me to be that of an A-6E Tram, the FLIR indicator is missing. The Vertical Display Indicator (ok it does nothing if it does not have all the functions, maybe the limit is MSFS) seems oversized. The Weapons Pack is not real. Overall it is nice, but at full price it should have had and been cared for with some more details to be at least 3 stars (marketplace rating), this is my humble opinion.
