Deleting stock aicraft

Shows how bad my memory is but I seem to remember this could be done. By that I mean changing what ac are essential to the CFS3 start up. I do note that Clive's BoB still has some US ac?

Hi James :wavey:

Take a look in the MAW install. There's about 4 stock a/c left, these are the ones which are defaults in the UISEL file and I think need to be kept.

Other than that, if you change the airfile type from 0 to 2 it will not be selectable in QC.

Bear in mind that some of the stock aircraft refer to other stock aircraft for their sound aliases. The P-47D comes to mind - the bubbletop is necessary for startup, but it refers to the razorback's sound files. It's enough just to copy them over, needless to say.

It's the Bf109g-6, Ju88, B-26 and P-47D-25, I think.

Another trick is to replace them with aircraft you actually do want, such as Ted's Ju88 night fighters, and re-use the model name.

What I've done for the other aircraft with their own sound files is delete everything in the folder except the sound file, as there are certainly other non-stock aircraft that might use them.

No, leave the uisel alone, as it'll regenerate if you delete it, and it won't be happy if it can't find those aircraft mentioned. It's easier to do this -

It doesn't matter what aircraft it actually is as long as the folder name, sim name and model name identify it as, say, bf_109g_6. So you take a Bf 110G that you want in-game, and rename all its parts to bf_109g_6, leaving only the short name in the xdp file reading Bf110G-2, or whatever it actually is. In game, that's what you'll see, although the game engine will accept that it's the stock Bf109g-6.
