Hi guys. i am having major probs. i cant get my desktop icons to show up or it keeps refreshing itself constantly. i ran Adaware and Malawarebyte applications to check for trojans or malicious software but still doing it. My other user profile does not have this problem. Only my main user profile"d" does. the d reaches the desktop only to refresh itself or have no icons displayed. is there a fix or do you guys think its a virus. I have mcafee running in background. last I used was Sunday and was looking for a ringtone maker for my new cell phone. Hope you can help. rebooted several times also to no avail.:help:

dsawan;

Is explorer.exe running? Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete, select Task Manager. Check the Process Tab. If it's not running Go to File, New Task and type in Explorer.exe, hit OK....

This sounds like a virus, My wife's pc would do the same thing when i trouble shot the situation it came back to bing a worm designed to keep you from stopping it. it would continually keep her in a loop to where she couldn't open anything.

sad news the only i could break the loop was to reformat and reinstall windows on the hard drive i have her OS on.

I had that exact same thing a while back....and the only way I got rid of it was by using a boot disc that is loaded with utilities and going in and deleting the 3 files from C:\Windows\System32 directory (can't remember what they were called now..sorry).

I even had to dump my Restore Points to get rid of them....the nasties installed themselves then froze the restore points...so doing a Restore Point is not an option.
